I give this event about a 90% enjoy rate. I've had fun logging in and squishing the aliens (that's super addicting!) and the ability to "craft" prizes means that someone who's freemium, like me, has a chance at things like Hugo, which we'd normally pay donuts for. I also like that they gated the prizes, so you have to wait to get all of them. It cuts down on the "I'm done, when's Christmas?" threads we'd normally see.
It'd be 100%, but I have a few drawbacks. The questline was short, and the repeatable trick-or-treat task seems redundant. After sending the kids trick-or-treating a few times, we can see that gift bags are valuable and will keep sending them. We don't need a task to tell us this over and over; this was especially bad in the beginning as people spent donuts here, thinking they'd advance the quest, or thought the quest was broken.
71-85% for me but i almost voted "my cat is looking at me strangely" because she actually is....it's a little creepy.
Anyways, even though the event is a bit of a grind, I still like the concept of it. I should be able to get every prize without having to spend donuts so I'm happy about that. I just would like to see more ammo and gremaliens in treat bags. It's been over 56 hours since I last got ammo for the UFO in my B town. Also would really love it if they released more items at a time instead of one every Friday.
I am really enjoying it. I'm also grateful having it broken up into 3 parts. I remember feeling burnt out after last halloweens grind. Having a couple "days off" before the next round is a cool way to recharge. Looking forward to this weeks update.
I think it's been pretty good so far. My main issue, as some have mentioned here and in other threads, is the lack of ammo and gremaliens. It would be nice to be able to get more of those (without spending donuts, that is).
"Next year's event was better last year." ~ Paraphrased from Burning Man participants.
That said, I'm loving it. This is my first Hallowe'en here, and, as a Burner's first year is always their best, such will this be to me. But, I also understand that I was at many better Burns than the new folks I've met, just as I understand you lucky old-timers here feel about previous THOHs.
I'm enjoying the event. Plenty of content (my first Halloween), and the probe collection was a fair challenge for a freemium player (despite the moaning).
One thing that tops it off for me. After a horrendous run of expensive new buildings, leaving houses to burn, and leaving buildings for friends to tap, I can finally harvest all the money from my town. It's great to see my balance flying up so I can invest in a 10 mil aspirational some time in the near future.
I love this event, that being said I've loved them all since starting playing (last December) totally hooked on them all, even the notorius Easter and valentines events. I've thought they were all fab. I can't believe just how addictive a game can be, only started playing as my son asked me to check his town whilst at school, he never got the game back lol. Lucky for me he lost interest after a week or so anyway.
People who aren't happy with this event, but complained about the last event, well there's no pleasing you. There's definitely a limit to what they can do, and they actually surprised me with the crafting. Enjoying it so far.
I like it pretty much. Although I wish we would've gotten more content & a little more variety.
Also wish we would've gotten the Blue Demon, House of Evil Shopkeeper & Gypsy Fortune Teller as playable characters.
Also would be cool to get a permanent task for the Bad Dream House, Pumpkin House & Ultrahouse 2.
Agreed, I would like to see all those characters put into eh game. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they release non-ghost skin maude Flanders, dr marvin Monroe and bleeding gums murphy. Halloween is said to be the day that the dead rise from their graves and walk amongst the living so it would be a perfect time to bring those characters back!
I am enjoying the event so far. The prizes are relatively attainable and staggered so as someone said so there are no,"Well now what?" threads after the first week. I do think that improvements could be made. There should be an ability to help all of your neighbours. Perhaps if they got five probes for every neighbour visit. Or if the eggs were more abundant so you can drop more. Also I wish that ammo was generated a bit quicker.
I'm loving all the prizes and the ability to get previously missed items; however, the endless grind of kids on trick or treat quests is dull. The quest lines need to be a little deeper.
There will be more quest on Monday. (I think they're trying a new way to stretch the event, make sure the storyline lasts all month.)
  My first STOTHOH so totally digging it... hope they'll add the darker fog theme graphics as Halloween approaches; would really compliment the event 8)
I'm enjoying it so far. This is my first THOH event so I'm really glad they are re-releasing items from past events. I was excited to get Witch Marge, Devil Flanders, the Bad Dream House, etc.
As for the event itself - I love squishing aliens and being able to craft new items. I wish there were more of a quest-line. I understand wanting to stretch out the event, but I enjoy the quests and dialog so I'm really looking forward to what then next part will bring.

I agree, it's really annoying to have to resend them every 8 hrs. The bags are nice though.
I gave it 36-55% which seems low BUT, I hate that there's no new decorations this year. I already had a ton of pumpkins and dead trees from last year. There's too much grinding involved. The DTD didn't even pay out a small donut prize and it's literally taking forever to get Candy Bars to build the Grand Pumpkin even though I am someone who even puts an alarm in the middle of the night to collect treat bags!
But we already did it. It took seven hours, but we did it. It's done.
Honestly I find it better than last years. Nothing will beat the original Halloween one though. That one was fun with egging and toilet papering trees.
Last years basically lost steam after 2 weeks in since it was way too easy. I had basically stopped tasking, stopped (mostly) visiting neighbors and everything. The Community prizes seemed rigged, and like none of the prizes had any story lines. A lot of the prizes were boring, at least this year we got Hugo, donut machine and some other cool things. I like the crafting and actually gives a reason to task the characters unlike every other event to date. The currency from every event has been so minor the weird hour tasks wasn't worth it.
While there wasn't much new premium or free stuff - fine with me since they didn't add any land to put it on.
Here's to hoping that the decorations can go to Krustyland after the event to join the Christmas, Valentine's day, Easter and very little Clash of Clones stuff.
- same task over and over for weeks? Getting a little boring.
- used all my donuts to get this gun i did not want because it looks stupid without Frinks lab, and it did not help me get the DTD.
- missed the DTD by 140 probes. No credit for the 7000+ probes i collected??
- the UI for the prizes is poorly designed. How many people mistook the last bag value as the DTD value? The scroll bar controls are not visible enough. Oh what? There's stuff listed under the pumpkin house? Didn't notice for weeks!
- where's my trivia question? what?? Tap the house to find Moog's outfit? Why different from every other feature that goes to inventory??
- was hoping for more chances to EARN old features, not just PAY for them. Yay for the rich. We get pumpkins and dead trees. Yay.
- really sick of game play with timers on them. If the timers are intended to force more contribution of my time, well i feel like I'm playing this game more than i eat, sleep, pee, or work, COMBINED, AND IT'S STILL NOT ENOUGH.
Seriously, this event feels like WORK, rather than FUN, and I'm tired of it spotlighting my lack of disposable funds. I've recently installed a drag racing game that is simpler and far more stress free. I may be deleting this soon for my own mental well being.
Pardon my negative slant but I'm still mad about how much effort i made for DTD to miss it by a handful. I'm turned off the whole event now. What the heck I'd this first prize in the ray gun list? I don't even recognize it.
And why can't Swype recognize I'm spelling RAY GUN, not DAY FUN?! Stupid android!
 :P
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

Overall, I've enjoyed myself.
