To nuke or not to nuke?

I always find it easier to just nuke and then wonder...

Keeps things exciting haha

And when designing, take your time. Don't try to complete it in a few days. Trust me your town will look a lot better that way. My old neighbors who saw my before and after town will probably know what I'm talking about.

If there are areas of your town currently that you really like, make sure to take screenshots so you can replicate it.

Rather than nuking, I like to redesign in phases - just shove things out of the way while I work on an area. It's a bit slower going, and some areas just feel daunting... I might nuke one of these days.

What sort of issues have happened in the past with nuking? This is something I'd really like to do especially as soon as I finish the strip club and bounce house and can focus on buying more land. Tried to edit my neighborhood area to add in some more houses to raise my indolence rating but I really need a total town redesign, just don't want to inadvertently lose something or cause issues with my game.

Sometimes items would go missing with nuking, but I didn't have that issue. They fixed I shortly after the nuke option was released.

Keep in mind that at some time unbeknownst to us, the town of Springfield is going to be white with snow. Your trees will have no color to tell you which is which -- except the evergreens -- , shrubs and flowers will be covered, etc. So if you do nuke, then after getting your buildings and roads in place do the landscape (greenery) before the snow hits. You can do the hardscape and details whether its white or not. :)

    That's excellent advice!

This should definitely be a huge factor in a redesign during this time of the year. Maybe waiting after the holidays would be a better option for some. Or just get the redesign done within a month or so.

    Do it! It's almost cathartic!!

I seriously enjoyed nuking my original SF and redesigning.

The advice an out pics of areas you like right now is good as is the suggestion to keep upcoming snow in mind...

I had no issues with my nuke- everything seems to have been stored correctly and come back out.

I nuked a few months back and had no regrets - nothing missing or anything and I think my town is much better looking. I'm considering another nuke, but the comments by others are correct - in short order your town is going to be a sea of white that's going to make it tough to do a redesign.

Also something to keep in mind: your town is going to make very little money during your redesign. For one thing, a lot of your buildings will be in storage and not generating income. For another, all your multipliers will drop to nearly nothing. So, I'd suggest holding off until you've gotten all the land (or all the land you want) and have no major purchases pending.

I need to nuke my town after this event ends - I have a character stuck in a building and I don't have the option to store it. Last time I did a total redesign, I had room to shove stuff around and I didn't need to store much. I am also considering manually put my limited time stuff in storage first.

What happens to my Krustyland when I nuke Springfield? I know I won't be able to go to it till I put the shuttle back, but does it affect it in any way other than that?

Krustyland shuttle, debris and Simpson house do not get stored with a nuke.

Also, a nuke of Springfield does not affect Krustyland. At all. And vice versa.

Good advice with the snow. I was going to nuke after this event, but I'll wait until after the holidays.

Think I might wait until after Christmas actually too - thanks for the snow reminders, they will certainly make things interesting! All I need now are to find some seriously impressive Springfields to use as inspiration! Anyone got any particular recommendations?

Definitely a good thing to consider! Things could get confusing if snow is involved!

If you are looking for ideas for a redesign, you should check out the Springfield Showcase part of the forum - I have seen a lot of really fantastic designs in the threads there!

    Good luck with your redesign!

Hope you aren't growing Christmas corn or gestating a Spuckler baby. Those things will reset if you nuke your town. Good luck with the redesign! :D
