I just really hope they don't break it into "segments" like this one. If possible, I'd like to be able to finish early, because I'm planning to go somewhere where I might not have reception or wifi.

Last year's Christmas event was a combination of gathering items (gift cards) to reach certain totals and unlock personal prizes, community prizes that were awarded to everyone once a worldwide total was reached, and prizes that could be won on a prize wheel.

It was the first time EA introduced the prize wheel (i.e. random prize generator) and it drew a lot of complaints because two prizes on the wheel (Claus Co. building and Yeti) were very difficult to win. In order to even have a chance to spin the wheel you had to gather 1000 gift cards which took nearly a day IIRC.

I love the personal and community prizes. In my case, dividing this event into 3 segments made it better, because in other types of single-stage events there were so many people who finished so fast and had so much empty time that were (understandably) chomping at the bit, waiting for the event to end. They were caught between genuinely wanting their friends to have time to get all prizes, but still being bored as things got tedious.

And many of those were the strongest players. This one kept more people engaged for longer.

But I'm only saying that because I have no vacation planned. Not that I'm jealous. No siree. Not one bit. (Right.). :)

Regular and community prizes are the best. NO WHEEL!!! And nothing like what we had in Easter either, that was even worse than the wheel.

Pretty much exactly my thoughts on this. Plus; no wheel, no boxes, no grinding away for a chance to maybe win something cool. Only to get another fence. Or worse, another chance to get another fence!

I like the segments. It makes the event playable throughout and prevents buying the entire thing outright on day one.

Which leads to posts from morons complaining about lack of content.

    10 Personel Prizes
    5 Community Prizes
7 Riddle Prizes (like the stonecutter ones)
Plus other prizes through some kind of method

Also less emphasis on old returning stuff & more on lots of new content
