Why do you ignore the drive thru?

Prev13
Okay, I have been visiting towns, and have noticed something peculiar. Gulp and Brow and Krusty Burger, have drive thru windows, but in so may towns, people place those buildings so that the drive-thru is virtually obstructed.

If there is a feature added that has cars, or a quest... How would you access the drive thru?

Or am I just being to picky of a city planner?

Ehrmmmm...think I'll just wait until such cars or quests exist to worry about this. But..thanks for bringing it to my attention?

I noticed the drive-thrus too and put enough pavement around them that my imaginary cars could use them. :)

For the Krusty Burger I took the drive through into account. Still have to do it with Gulp n Brow, but Ill wait till the snow melts before I add any new decorations.

Still, people should do with their town whatever they like :)

I built a drive-through for the Krusty Burger that was as close as I could get it to the one in the TV show, it ended up looking horrible so I removed it. If you pay attention to the signage on the Gulp N' Blow you'll notice it directs the lane to run in front of the main entrance, which makes no logical sense.

I found about a month ago, I had ignored one of my drive thrus ( which was Gulp 'N Blow). I fixed it.

I find I tend to lean towards certain references within my own home city. We do have a few couple of McDonalds within my city (Edmonton, AB, Canada), that honestly do have the Togo window almost upon an entrance door. It made me laugh & be very aware @ the same time of what was goin on around me (walkin out a door n almost bein on top the hood of a car. Sob!)

So, needless to say, I have seen something like Gulp 'N Blows set up practiced in real life!

I took note of that and designed them accordingly, especially the Krusty Burger. The Gulp'n'Blow is slightly more pedestrianised but it's still possible to drive past the way I have it set up so I think it counts. It's all about the little details.

I am currently ignoring the drive thrus, but I will change that once I have all buildings built and I am able to get rid of my extra brown houses and make some space.

    It drives me crazy.

The drive through thing used to bug me but when to stop to realize this is a post apocalyptic Springfield where they are adjusting to a "new normal" after the blast, things should be expected to be a little off. I think Barney probably uses the drive through on foot from time to time, and he is not fussy about pavement or roads. :)

I used to stress about them. And then I gave up.

I have both of mine along roads so they can be used. I also keep my dumpster accessible.

I used to have some angst over them, but they seem to be under control now.

I didn't ignore the drive thru with either buildings. the GnB might look like it because I have it up against the wall, but it's in the small detail. I have a path for an imaginary car to drive up, curve around the parking lot to get to the window. It doesn't have a order box so it doesn't need a wrap around the building thing. I view it like the drive thru liquor stores I would go to, they just have a window you pull up to.

I always make use of the drive thru, giving the buildings a separate street within the land that the GnB or krusty burger is on. I don't like to just put it on the corner of a normal road, otherwise everyone waiting in line backs into the roads and holds up traffic.

I didn't stress about the drive thru too much.

Originally, I just used pavement to represent the drive thru. But I recently moved both the Krusty and Gulp n' Blow and got a little more serious. By playing with roads, I was able to made lanes with a median to separate the drive thru from the road.

Looks nice. Assuages my need for verisimilitude. All good.

Can you guys post some screenshots?

I have mines against roads but that'd be silly...to order food from the main road

A most delightful and mellifluous phrase.

Thanks to this thread, I parked the ambulance at the Krusty Burger speaker.
Why didn't I think of that before??
