To nuke or not to nuke?

I've been hovering over the "nuke" button since it's been introduced. I've been playing the game since launch and didn't know what i was doing. I would love to reset everything but then i think about all the fences....ugh...

I've nuked. It was very time consuming, but I am considering doing it again. This time I want to screenshot the parts of my town that I like. My problem (trivial) is where to fit the schools in. I like my town seperated into sections- housing, industrial (power plant, warehouses ect), entertainment section and a shadier part of town with the strip club, fortune teller shop ect.

I've also thought about the fences...but that's one of those things where moving them might be even worse then starting over with them.

I've been considering doing this as well but have been worried about losing items.. is it safe? Has anyone ever lost anything in the process?

I do like the sections. Early on I had the housing section and the shopping/restaurant section with a little park in the middle. Then we got so many more buildings and shops that what I already had stopped making sense. I know it will be time consuming but I don't think redesigning without nuking will take less time.

This is a great point. Just spent up the rest of my craft items and had to rearrange a bunch of spooky fences, just minor rearrangements but what a PITA when ooh oops you decide you want to move that side over a square and you click but the dang game picks up sixty other things first before finally giving you the fence piece you want, again and again and again. So nuking is honestly probably much easier!

I tried moving them. It takes way too much time. Nuking is the better option. I didn't lose anything when I nuked, but if I do it again I am going to take an inventory of my characters and buildings before hitting the button.

Do all the characters get stored? In the FG game, you're able to store characters but nuking didn't store them.

Everything gets stored except Krustyland shuttle, Simpson house, homer and Lisa, and debris. All your roads are gone as well. Just one big never ending continual scroll of green screen.

I did it in one of my side towns. I found myself totally disoriented with no landmarks. If i were to do it again, I would put little bunches of debris at certain spots to "mark" them before nuking. (Especially town center.). For me, it was impossible to calculate how far on the screen to drag an item from storage. Or even in which direction.

Test it in your Krustyland. With that one caveat I just mentioned, it was a blast. (Pun intended).

I'm currently level 44- but when I started playing in July I started assembling something that "looked" like a town. But after I reached level 20 or so I stopped designing. I started focusing on only leveling up and placed buildings wherever. I figured I would hit a patch around this time where it would slow a bit and I could focus on land and placement. I did this to avoid having to unnecessarily move around fences, roads and everything else.

I have my schools in my house area. I think they fit well, since schools are usually in the middle of neighbourhoods.

I nuked Kurtstyland on Monday. It didn't take that long to redo. Then I nuked my town on Tuesday. I took screen shots and then stored the buildings and characters. I figured I'd be less likely to lose stuff that way. It's a pain to get all the fences and decorations back in place, but it looks so much better even though I'm not done yet. I am not putting everything I have out, only what I really like. Well, I may put out a few things I'm not crazy about while I save up for the chocolate tower and then put them back in storage when I need the room. There is extra space for new stuff and I put a park on my splash screen. I will be clearing it out and adding event items during events and putting the park stuff back when the event is over. The decorating will take a while and I still want to shuffle a few things around, but I'm back up to five stars on the conformity. It was worth it to me.

I managed to prevent nuking and have manged to free up loads of space recently. I used to have heaps of houses and kwik-e-marts to keep my star rating but as I have leveled up and gained other things I could do this without impacting my star rating.
I used this excess space to make it easier when moving things around. I am much happier with my SF now and have enough freed up space for the next few levels :)

THAT is a really good idea!!!
    landmarks before nuking..

the fact is that we don't have a nice way to move part of the buildings WITH fences and trees.. as well as moving part of the city (more buildings grouped together), so the only way to do a massive redesign is nuking..
like many others, I have the first 20/25 levels built with an order, trying to keep an idea of city, but with the growing number of buildings and events I've lost the control, and now I put them were I have space :-/
