I'm not sure if I'm missing something. I went through the dialogue, and the tasks appeared in the task book, but under the task of "make Springfielders make toys", when I tap on "do it" the characters it takes me to don't have that task on their list. All my people are free.
The only characters who can do this task are the ones who've been unlocked for building toys so you'll have to do it multiple times. Part 2 of this task involves having elfs build 100 toys so it will take a few days.
