The cannot connect to server is out of control on my iPad right now (wifi). I managed to get in on my Android phone (4g) and tap Other Springfield to keep my visit times from getting messed up.

I started getting the Bart screen a few nights ago, and ended up rebooting, hard rebooting, and eventually deleting and reinstalling the app, which appeared to get me back in (though it could have just been waiting for a bit that fixed it). Then I got the issue again, and it appeared that lots of others did too (e.g. half the people here, evidently) and that time nothing fixed it except the in-app update. Huzzah! Back in the game!

But that was short lived, to be soon replaced by the "crash" error that flips you back to Home Screen. I tried the uninstall/reinstall, and this time it was a no-go.

So, eventually, another in-app update, and that fixed it again. A Festivus miracle!! Except that then it borked again. Another update, another short-lived fix, and now I'm back to seeing Bart's smug face AGAIN.

Meanwhile, my wife has been (mostly) playing along just fine. Needless to say, she's a fair bit ahead of me on Elf Bells, only now she's getting Bart too. Like pretty much everyone, our "B" games seem to work fine. I've heard through the grapevine that the issue only affects players >Level 45, so that could be it, if true, since most "B" games are probably below that.

Consistent with what others have noticed, when my wife could play just fine, and logged in on my wee iPod, she could still play just fine. When I was borked, logging into her fancy new iPad mini didn't help at all, so in some way or other it's clearly account specific rather than device or OS specific.

Kinda hoping for some kind of "compensatory damages" for this, and NOT some kind of across-the-board donut drop. People who've had no problems are going to be way ahead of those of us who've been hounded by them, and giving everyone a bunch of donuts would be like a referee saying "Illegal play -- give BOTH teams a free point!!" -- how does that even anything up??

My husband had the "crash to deskop" problem, which was fixed th the update. Now he can play, but I - who have had no problems at all - are getting the Bart screen now. Not as serious, but annoying anyway.

Pursuant to my own rant above, I think I found the fix:

    1. log in to this site with your Origin ID
    2. verify your e-mail address so you can post here
    3. write a sizeable post describing your woes and sufferings
    4. go back to your game and voila!

So, in for now. Thinking maybe I'll just never power off. Oh, and my wife is now Barted out of her game. Oh, the humanity!

Got in after downloading the patch, now getting Bart. Slightly better than Tapped Out has stopped...I assume it's just server overload at this point.

Sony and playstation are also having connection problems.

    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-30602609

"Microsoft and Sony - the companies which make the games consoles - have told customers they are aware of issues affecting their online services."

"A hacking group called Lizard Squad is claiming to have caused the problems"

    Could EA have been hacked?

I can get in for about 30 seconds. I rush to do stuff before it boots me out again. It's hideous. I'm falling so far behind. :-(
