Um, who's working on it? Last I checked it was New Years day- a day most of the world takes from work..... I would be surprised if there are people working on it just like with xmas day..... There are some poor tech support people getting yelled at by customers for sure, but programers and designers and stuff- sorry, doubt their on call today.
My game has been quite slow. I couldn't even be bothered to get through my neighbours, it took at least a minute to go from one to the next, and I only got through about 20 before I gave up. Hope it is fixed soon, as I want to get majority of the prizes if not all.
Server down here again. I was fortunate enough to see the first few lines of dialogue regarding EA and something negative about its players of the game. I really don't know how much longer I can pay someone to insult me.
EA, instead of focusing on the fact people are complaining about instability in their game, how about work on fixing it instead of telling the writers to just make fun of the players anytime an issue arises that they can't fix.
It's not as if I could have bought a new console with 10 new games for what I have spent on this game to talk crap about its players.
EA, perhaps next you can charge me donuts to get on the server so that I could at least play what I paid for.
Rant over. May be time to start browsing the app store....

Many people work on New Years day. The whole world doesn't shut down.

True, emergency services, convieneice stores, fast food...... My point was not developers, not someone who could fix the issue.... Let's say jobs where people are paid well.... Most people get today off. Especially people paid as software developers etc..... I know many friends and family in computers and software dev.- not one is working today. Ea is the same- low level, hourly paid phone answerers are there- fixers and solvers of the issue are most likely not
Edit- keeping in mind this game is made and developed in the United states- most people have the day off here...... And customer support is switched to overseas for today to prove that point
I also think in 2015 with all the technology some things at least can be done from home. I suggested on Xmas Day that staff could for example log one from home as they feel like it, answer a few tickets etc then log off. Certainly someone updated the Tapped Out FB page on Xmas day.
I know EA can't help being hacked. I have every sympathy with them when that happens.
What they CAN do is keep players informed through other avenues, explain what happened after and apologise, maybe even throw out a game wide free donut or two for all players.
During timed events if major bugs are occurring or outages, extend the even automatically to give everyone a fair chance of completion.
Instead what we seem to get is a series of major outages, no explanation, no updates as to progress, and certainly not a word once play has been restored!
I mean Xmas day free gift was Duff Beer tree, which then appeared to buy for 30 donuts they day after (I know it was probably pre planned to go before the outage), then a customer rep (as I read on here) bascially said if you didn't get it due to the issues contact us you'll get it, otherwise tough luck,
Nothing say on Twitter announcing due to the problems some didn't get it, and to open a ticket upon which EA will give you it.
For a tech game based company they can be surprisingly short sighted about communicating with the players who keep them in a job. IMO.
At this point, I'm just hoping to log in long enough to nuke my town, write a message to my neighbors saying goodbye without starting a quit thread, and take my $300 a month somewhere else.

I could use an extra $300 a month. What sort of entertainment would you like me to provide for you in place of this game?

As an adult film casting agent, I'm sure I can fit you in somewhere.

4 warnings to nuke a town. Thanks EA. It's been fun. Keep the change.
Later guys. It's been fun. Please unfirend me in the game. I have nuked and will uninstall. I did not want to start a quit thread, so if you see this, take care.

Are the problems we're experiencing today caused by the TSTO software or the Origin servers? Does anyone have other Origin games (Fifa, Sims, etc) and are they working ok? If it's the servers then hopefully that can be addressed today.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is caused by yet another DDoS attack. The Internet wasn't built with script kiddies and cyber terrorists in mind. It was originally built by nerds who thought only other nerds would use it. Cyber security is a cheap plastic toy in a fancy box.
This is the way it is, was, and will be; just as it has been with everything priopr to the Internet. All we can hope for is for those DDoS kids to stop overloading EA's servers at their own accord. Can EA do much about this? I honestly don't know. They could have dozens of techs brought in to work on it and not be able to resolve much at this moment.
They probably have techs who are obliged to come in when this kind of stuff happens. Remember the old EA adage; "If you don't come to work on Saturday, don't bother coming in on Sunday."
But it's frustrating. There are people who take... certain pleasure... from ruining things for others. Couple that with EA's notoriously underwhelming server capacity, and you have January 1st, 2015.

Pretty sure that pays more than $300 a month.
