This is an absolute joke today. I thought i might actually have a chance of accumulating a lot of bells today on a day off work thus being able to catch up on the ones i've missed out on since Christmas. Im never going to complete this section of the task i will only just manage to get the gift robot at this rate.....
I can't understand people having such a hissy fit over a game. Why should developers work on a national holiday? Yes fine for essential workers but for a game... Our gas boiler sprung a leak this morning (now that's what I call essential) and a guy was out within 30 minutes. We rewarded him with a bottle of wine.
I collected 240 cogs in order to update my cannon to level 10. I clicked the upgrade button, it threw me off. When I finally got back on (after a few attempts) my cogs were gone, but it did not upgrade my cannon. I can't get on any of my friends town, because it throws me off and every quest for homer is throwing me off. I waste more time trying to get back on.
Um, who's working on it? Last I checked it was New Years day- a day most of the world takes from work..... I would be surprised if there are people working on it just like with xmas day..... There are some poor tech support people getting yelled at by customers for sure, but programers and designers and stuff- sorry, doubt their on call today.
Are the problems we're experiencing today caused by the TSTO software or the Origin servers? Does anyone have other Origin games (Fifa, Sims, etc) and are they working ok? If it's the servers then hopefully that can be addressed today.
I do have other ea/origins games- and their fine. **** fine, sims fine, sim city fine......
Interesting, and thanks for posting. Sounds like this may be an issue for the TSTO programmers and will need a patch after all.
4 warnings to nuke a town. Thanks EA. It's been fun. Keep the change.
Later guys. It's been fun. Please unfirend me in the game. I have nuked and will uninstall. I did not want to start a quit thread, so if you see this, take care.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is caused by yet another DDoS attack. The Internet wasn't built with script kiddies and cyber terrorists in mind. It was originally built by nerds who thought only other nerds would use it. Cyber security is a cheap plastic toy in a fancy box.
This is the way it is, was, and will be; just as it has been with everything priopr to the Internet. All we can hope for is for those DDoS kids to stop overloading EA's servers at their own accord. Can EA do much about this? I honestly don't know. They could have dozens of techs brought in to work on it and not be able to resolve much at this moment.
They probably have techs who are obliged to come in when this kind of stuff happens. Remember the old EA adage; "If you don't come to work on Saturday, don't bother coming in on Sunday."
But it's frustrating. There are people who take... certain pleasure... from ruining things for others. Couple that with EA's notoriously underwhelming server capacity, and you have January 1st, 2015.
Did you see that Lizard Squad earlier this week was selling a DDoS tool for just $6? *smh*

Because we are off work i have spent over 1000.00 on this game and i want to play not sit here watching a doughnut spin. Its not funny nor cute this is business they make millions off us and their level of commitment reminds me of a 3rd grader. The have very low standards when it comes to QA they publish half done updates, right now my game is very buggy. I have characters that for a split second have a diff skin like for a brief second while assigning tasks bart shows as milhouse ETC. Everytime i assign a task or collect from a builing every fence lights up like its being selected to move then stops illumating a second later not to mention the visual lag.
And i have a very good tablet with more than enough Cpu power and memory so its not my device.
At this point, I'm just hoping to log in long enough to nuke my town, write a message to my neighbors saying goodbye without starting a quit thread, and take my $300 a month somewhere else.
No Barry! Say it ain't so!
Your one of the most entertaining people here, don't leave us!
I couldn't agree more, Also a great neighbor!
You will truly be missed....

Well... this is a game can cost people hundreds of dollars depending on how much money they're made of and how obsessed they are with their Springfield. Many have invested money just for the Winter events, with some rewards either being unobtainable or becoming premium items next winter.
Had it not been for the rush to complete the Winter event, I think people wouldn't be as frustrated. I also think that people are concerned that the issues might go on for days... and with 12 days left of the Winter event, it's stressing people out.

You say we shouldn't expect people to work on a national holiday but while this might not be essential, EA are a huge company worth billions, I'm sure they could have ppl working on New Years when even local shops manage to open for business.
It's getting kind of ridiculous how often they're down recently. Hackers or not, it's just getting boring now.
BTW Barry I really hope you come back I won't be deleting you just incase!

I'm thinking of nuking my town and uninstall to.

How did this happen? What's it have to do with the server down?

Wrong! A game that needs 24/7 net access in order to run needs 24/7 network support. Should players that spend money expect to wait until the 2nd to play the game just because the entire support team were given the first day of the year off? These employees are essential for this game to run and so some should be in work today or on call to come in to fix this unacceptable problem we are facing.

Anyone who's ever worked tech knows that it's an unforgiving, unrelenting, 24/7/365 gig.
