Considering how far in advance the games have to start designing things, it's hard to think that they could be copying TSTO... Unless they have a mole at EA! *Dun dun dunnnnnn*

And don't forget that both Christmas events for both games included FBI men in black, which was really weird...

Maybe they're working together!? *dun dun dunnnnnn*

All joking aside, that is a bit odd. Maybe they have some agreement on major event content as to not interfere with each other??

Maybe they have some sort of agreement where Family Guy copies TSTO sometimes, as that's what they always say about the show? *dun dun dunnnnnn* ;)

Family guy also had the yeti.

The flintstones are also using clams like family guy.

    Is there a flintstones game?

Yeah, but it's horrible. I deleted it within 2 weeks

    2 weeks? I removed it after 2 days! :)

Lol! I disn't play it every day. And by week two I was like, why the F am I keeping this on my phone!?

They both have their appeals. I spend real money on simpsons though and not FG but that's just because my preference is simpsons. I'm not the worlds biggest FG fan. One of the things I like a lot about FG is the cars drive on the road!

Well the thing is this update was made before the Xmas event started in either game so its not copying.

I don't think that they're intentionally copying Tapped Out -- well, beyond being an app game featuring a syndicated family rebuilding their fictional town -- but I do get a sense of one-upmanship between the two games. For example, when the Stonecutters event (June 3rd) gave us a silent Number One (originally voiced by Patrick Stewart), the Family Guy game gave players a Patrick Stewart that was not only voiced, but voiced with original material (July 24th). Also, when red tape made EA unable to use Futurama characters in November during the "Simpsorama" event the Family Guy game gave players the principle cast of American Dad, which currently airs on TBS.

Okay, maybe family guy is copying the simpsons? So what? Animation is built on plagiarism. If it weren't for someone plagiarizing the Honeymooners we wouldn't have the Flintstones. If someone hadn't ripped off Sergeant Bilko, there'd be no Top Cat. Huckleberry Hound, Chief Wiggum, Yogi Bear? Hah! Andy Griffith, Edward G. Robinson, Art Carney. Your honor, you take away our right to steal ideas, where are they gonna come from?

I did not see their nativity scene or ice castle. Thanks for posting those!

Ski lifts that go nowhere are huge useless features in either game!
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

    Ye,totally agree with you there.
for myself: Flintstones was nice enough, until a more recent update that pushed it into the "pay to play" style of gaming (AKA Family Guy), and totally ruined it for me.

Giving you tasks of 6 or 8 hours a time with a "rare" (read impossible) chance of obtaining a building piece to complete a task is RIDICULOUS.
...unless you spent a fortune of premium currency hahaha

Your FG comments are spot on. WAY TOO MANY overlapping tasks. like i had those FEDS all over town, then u got snowmen and santas etc etc, and because you were on a similarly long tasks (ALL overlapping with personal and MULTIPLE "event" games) to "maybe in a blue moon" get a rare building piece, you couldnt even start to clear these multiples of roaming characters without paying the obligatory premium currency lol

and to make things worse the whole screen/town looked a total mess and CPU nightmare with far too many items all over the place.

STO is deffo my favorite of those kinda games , the offset of time/money spent verses reward seems a lot more stable and satisfying for me.

I've really hammered the xmas task ( first one ive managed to do so far with being off ill from work over the xmas period lol) and stability asside ive really enjoyed it
yes its a pain that there hasnt been a server to connect to to play the event. and yes, itd be nice to get some compensation, etc etc, bla bla. but i really do enjoy tapping away at this all day, building my town, and wondering if ill ever get enough bells or cogs to complete the quest in time haha

Ehhhh, my FG is buggy on Kindle Fire. I have to restart about 7-8 times while trying to put my Quahogians to work, more annoying than fun. Too many overlapping tapping tasks (snowmen, CIA agents)Not too long ago, the powers that be threw a snit fit accusing everyone of illegally obtaining clams , I was accused and blocked for several days(mine were earned and I had one small purchase of clams in the beginning), they seemed to forget that they give them away for completing character sets and visiting the generic Quahog. Now they are charging quite a few clams to get things in order to complete tasks. I am pretty much done with it.

Flintstones was ok, but they insisted on linking up to my Facebook after a week and blocked me because I did not grant them access to my FB info. I allow every other app to access my FB, I just, for whatever reason, decided Flintstones was being too pushy about it and decided to quit playing.

TSTO? It just flows better for me, easy to arrange things, easy to earn things, easy to complete tasks within windows of time, I get enough 'freemium' to justify my premium purchases, lucky for me though I am not a completion-ist, otherwise I would have have $700+ invested in my Springfield instead of $70.

You can find these similarities in every coinciding event since the other game's inception. Its beyond coincidence now. The two license holders share the same marketing focus groups at FOX.

But FG is one HUGE bug. Crashing every 5 minute or so.

I play both and it certainly does not crash every five mins and like the other guy said alot of games copy each other

Depends on what phone you have. Their support admitted to me several times that the game doesn't handle high end devices right, loading to much stuff which ultimately crashes the game. I tried with my very old phone. And even though laggy it doesn't crash cause it doesn't load everything in the background. It doesn't even load all the sounds from the characters actually. No wonder it doesn't crash. My LG G3 crashes a LOT!

Isn't the whole FG game pretty much a copy of TSTO? Its just more grindier and greedier.

Hardly greedier.. you get a lot more free clams there than you get free donuts. Also clams are a LOT cheaper. Simpsons is really expensive that way.

Family Guy does give out more clams, but they seem to be less valuable than donuts in terms of what you get.

I decided I really wanted Jesus in the Christmas event, but there was no way to get him without buying a premium character to fight the yeti. So I spent $10 and got the clams to get John McClane and battled the yetis through the King Yeti and had 97/100 of the blue stockings needed. I think that's just obnoxious game design. There wasn't enough time left to let the King Yeti run out and kill the lowest two yetis, so I bought $8 more worth of clams in order to buy a building for 200 clams that would give me 3 blue stockings. Yes, it was my choice to do that, but TSTO would have offered a way to get the dang three socks for a few donuts.

TSTO is much more carefully designed it seems to me. In the Christmas event, I couldn't win Jasper so Lois was the only one who could battles mall santas. Also the only one who could battle the yeti for days. Also constantly required for various quests. Meanwhile, most of the other characters have nothing special to do. Still it was a fun and complex if frustrating event. Strangely scripted, all the way up to Dec 31 they talked about Christmas coming, never actually happening. And now it's New Year's Eve in the Game.

The game is really crude. I don't find it funny at all, but apparently I'm so addicted to town-rebuilding tapping games that TSTO is not enough.

I had no issues finnishing King Yeti with Mclane. Could be done without him to if you don't sleep for 24 hours hehe. Anyhow. I got him cause I wanted him and after that I had no issues with King Yeti.. but the price, the permanent Yetis is SO lame. Just stands there, arms hanging. Completely useless and boring.

I hardly think donuts gives more considering the price.

I didn't have a problem with McClane but he cost 200 clams. Without McClane it was not really possible. If all 3 characters did 2 damage all 6 times, yes. But that was only theoretically possible. They did 1 damage most of the time. If you had an infinite amount of time, maybe you'd have a day where they all maxed out on damage 6 times in a row.

For 200 doughnuts, perhaps not, but I had to spend 400 clams to get Jesus. I didn't want McClane, I only got him to get Jesus. The yeti prize is lame, but the Jesus, Santa and McClane characters are fun.

For 200 donuts I can get any character/building combo except Barney and the motel

What you are not accounting for is difference in cost. 300 clams does not equal 300 donuts. 600 clams equal 300 donuts. So in "donuts" John McClane was 100, which is mostly on par with most non building characters of TSTO.

I didn't buy any premium buildings, but did get both members of kiss and John. Had no trouble getting Jesus.

And how do you figure 600 clams equals 300 donuts? Not in real money they don't. You get about the same stuff for 300 donuts as you would for 300 clams. Just about.
