This is quite a bug and I think Apple and EA may not have a fix yet from what I read. Can't wipe my ipad so I guess I have to go back to real life!

What a crazy bug , you try to buy donuts and then the app won't open on your device anymore. Not sure about logging in on a 2nd device, but I don't want to play on the iPhone anyway. So it's so long to the Simpsons fun, and it was nice following the forums.

I really don't fancy wiping my iPad as I use it for work. I guess it's mainly photos I would have to back up. That hasn't seemed to fix this issue either, according to other people's experiences.


And I may be tempted to play on the iPhone but just to collect, not decorate. And I had just purchased some land to do some remodeling too !!

From reading threads like this and the occasional crashing im getting it is a little surprising that EA wont do more to help. I mean the occasional crash I understand... but when buying donuts for real money is causing a problem like this its affecting people from purchasing donuts and making people like me think twice before I buy donuts again. I thank you for posting this and helping to make more aware and I hope it somehow works out and you get your game back

This is such an annoying problem with this game. I have had problems ever since I first tried to buy donuts. It just kept getting worse. But now it appears that Apple is stepping up and trying to fix the problem. I am thinking that the buying of donut crash is Apple's fault and not EA's.

Here is what has happened with me (my 25 days of TSTO problems):

1. I tried to buy the $49.99 package. It didn't go through -- no donuts, but
2. Apple pushed through 3 attempts to charge my credit card, so
3. This set off a fraud alert at my bank, and
4. I spoke with my bank to confirm that 1 of the transactions was valid, but
5. The bank couldn't tell which of the 3 would go through so they temporarily approved all 3, then
6. None of the charges were processed by Apple and the approvals disappeared from my account, but
7. I could no longer access TSTO on my iPad (which is the device I used to purchase the donuts), because
8. I kept getting the "Enter Apple ID" when trying to launch the game, then
9. Someone posted in the forum that if you hit "cancel" the game would launch, so
10. I was at least able to get into the game on my iPad and could play, but
11. The game kept crashing especially when visiting friends, so
12. I loaded the game onto my iPhone and used my phone to visit friends, and
13. Although it was annoying to have problems with my iPad I thought EA/Apple would fix (eventually), so
14. I bought some iTune Gift Cards (on sale 30% off), and
15. I bought the $99.99 package and it went through and I was happy (for awhile), then
16. The problems on the iPad got worse (but there were also many server issues with EA), eventually
17. Someone posted in the forum that wiping your device and resetting it would fix the problem, so
18. I wiped my iPad and reset it but it didn't work -- and I am completely locked out of the app on my iPad, so
19. I contacted Apple for support, maybe they could reset the app, but
20. They couldn't help with the app and said EA needed to fix it, and so
21. They ended up refunding the $99.99 to my iTunes account balance, but
22. This might have been an Apple allowance because they didn't take away my donuts, so
23. Now I have my money back and I still cannot access TSTO on my iPad, and
24. Although I can access TSTO on my iPhone -- I still have all my premium content and my money was refunded, so
25. Now I will probably have to go buy a new iPad since it will not work on my existing device and I don't like it on the iPhone...

I think this is just an attempt to get people to buy the latest iPad :-)

Same thing happened to me on my First Gen iPad. I could get back in when I hit cancel when iTunes asked for my password. I still had problems getting kicked out constantly so I had to buy a new iPad and no problems now. I'm happily tapping away at a much faster pace and so much more reliable. Good luck.

Thanks, actually if it were in Game Status I doubt it would have had the intended effect, which was to inform some of my new friends that I won't be as active.
