On vacation thread?

That would be a great idea! The neighbours could also leave a message in their Springfield to notify anyone that they are on vacation. For instance, you could use pumpkins to spell "ON VAC." near your landing zone.

Or just something g so you can have status in game, like:
-on vacation
-back in .. Days

Instead of having to spell out a lot, if you have the Sleep-Eazy motel, put it smack in the center of your landing zone, a simple arrow pointing to it and the word "me"

Also, if you are ever sent to prison, use the Penitentiary instead of the motel, the arrow, and "Me. 15 to 20". That way they can decide whether to drop you for a more reliable replacement.

I moved twice last year (total nightmare) and had no wi-fi access for long stretches. I thought about posting in this forum, but didn't know how many of my neighours read this forum, and I thought my message might get buried anyway by other
topics before any of them would even see it.
I just spelled out a message in my landing zone (moved a lot of stuff to do so) and let people know that I wasn't going to
be around. Some of them still deleted me, oh well

I find that single threads to say I'm away for a while get hard to follow. You have to keep checking the thread to see if someone you know is away. So in my opinion, the occasional "To friends of (your name)" threads are much more helpful. They don't clog up the forum, and pass through the pages quickly as they don't need a lot of conversation behind them.

I have the maximum friends so if one or two are away who cares? And if people drop me as a friend if I'm away, again who cares. Get somebody else. They are not real friends generally. I only know two of my TSTO friends IRL and I don't know if any of my other digital friends are on here either. People on here often obsess over this issue and I can't figure why.

Agreed - if your friends drop you there is a whole forum dedicated to getting more friends and, speaking from personal experience , it is exceptionally easy to rebuild your friends list if necessary. So I never worry about letting people know I'm away or whatever else. They're not real friends and they're not going to worry(or notice!) if i don't log in for a while. I am under no illusions over how important I am to Internet strangers!

That being said, I don't mind an ingame notice board being introduced, just not sure how important it is.

This is a great idea. Last year I spent hours spelling out 'Back in 1 week' in garbage bins which I sold off afterwards. lol

I'm doing the Sleep-Eazy Motel this year.

I wish each town could have a town billboard, like an announcement board, that could be personalized with a small message. Maybe outside of Town Hall. You could put like 1-2 sentences on there like, "on vacation, back October 13th" or "offline for 3 weeks, please don't delete" or "please tap my Squidport." If a visiting neighbor was questioning the status/absence of a neighbor, they could simply check their Announcemt Board. Also, during special events, people could ask for specific favors, like to tap certain things.
But I don't know how hard this would be for each individual town to have and personalize. (???)

When i have neighbors who haven't played in a while, and I actually notice because there is nothing left to tap in their town, I just delete them.

If it turns out their absence was temporary, they can send another friend req and I'll accept it.

I don't over think this stuff because it's a time killing video game and not important at all.
