They'll probably just update the existing app.

Exactly, there's little logic in releasing a new app and alienating all the players who spent a lot of money on this game (like myself).

While I realize eventually this game will end, ending it only to replace it with a new version is just in poor taste, and a kick to the **** of the premium players. Most especially since a new version isn't necessary. It would be very unlikely to have any major gameplay differences or approaches.

I don't see it happening. Maybe years down the road after this game runs out of steam of its own accord.

Smart thinking about the "more land" posts

Agree with you about the roads. maybe able to turn some of them into driveways, gravel, and dirt without the sidewalks.

Some decorative bridges, different style houses and trees, the ability to zoom in closer...and of course AN AREA SELECT TOOL!

You realize that releasing a new app doesn't mean it's a completely new game. Everything would stay the same. Just the core of the game programming would be polished up and optimized.

There have been a few games that did this in the past. Some did it because of huge security flaws that made it easy to hack the apps and get free premium currency. Some were simply done to upgrade the game itself.

Point is the app as it is now probably resembles Frankenstein as far as code goes. It's not rare to see games or programs get completely revised and upgraded to make things better.

Again this doesn't mean everyone would have to start from scratch. It only means the backbone of the game would be recoded....

I can see 3D springfield but going inside houses might be pushing it, unless they decide to turn this game into the sims. That's unlikley though.

If it's the same game, then why would it be called TSTO 2?

Why bother with another Simpsons game? How about a Futurama Tapped Out? That's what I'd like to see.

It would seem unnecessary to release a tsto 2. Would be waste of resources and obviously if servers on tsto 1 are buggy the servers on tsto 2 would be at least 2x worse. It would be cool to have a game where can enter houses buildings eta, but that could be done on this game. As for the hacability who cares if some poor people get to enjoy something only the rich in rl get to enjoy. So power to them. Maby in the future they should make a premium simpsons game with no IAP but ofcouse I would assume the game might be about doing other things instead of rebuilding sf.

A long time ago I got hooked on this game called tap zoo or something like that. They did the same exact thing. It was easier to release a completely new version of the app instead of sifting through the entire existing app to fix every issue. I started playing when tap zoo 2 came out. The game looked and functioned a lot better then the first one did based one comments and videos I've seen of the older one. You could still download this first one after that, but it would redirect you to the second game. Simple.

Think of it this way. Imagine you wrote a 15 page paper when you first started high school on a subject you were very passionate about. Then 8 years later, when you graduated from college you found that paper and realized it can be sooo much better. You'll have 2 choices. You can either go back and start editing that paper and waste a ton of time, or just rewrite straight from your head. Which one do you think will be better? The one that looks like 2 different people wrote it or one that's all polished up and concise?

Programs work the same way. You can patch a program a million times, but after a while once you learn what the main issues are you can work out a better foundation, and structure for the program. At that point it makes more sense to reprogram the entire app and rerelease then to release a giant patch that'll be essentially working off of a bad foundation.

This also makes more sense from a marketing point of view, since they market it as a better, newer version of the game so many have come to love. Hell something like that can even bring back players who quit over the last few years. That's a win win situation.

Most importantly games run on different graphics engines. They can't just patch something like that in since in most cases that has to be programmed into the core of the game. So features like 3D mode may not even be possible on a graphics engine they're using now. This alone can warrant a complete overhaul of the app.

PS: a better more efficient graphics engine can do a lot to improve performance of the game, especially on older devices. Newer devices would benefit greatly too because the software would be able to better utilize the faster hardware.

Hey this is just for fun. No one here is saying it'll happen. I just want to hear people's outlandish ideas. It beats most other repeat topics that are circulating now.

Also here's an idea. Now that you know what this topic is about, since clearly the title wasn't obvious enough, you can just simply NOT open it. Sound good? :)

    Umm, Option 3:

Realize I'm not in school anymore and I don't have to keep doing school assignments.
