Why Do You Like TSTO?

Prev1
TSTO is the only "tap and wait tap and wait tap and wait this game is so stupid i bet this will speed it up 1000$!!!!!!! eh ill just blame my kids on it" games i play. as for other games i play on android with toutch scree, all of wich need tapping including emulated games before toutch screen was invented, i play lots. i however do not play oter tap and wait tap and wait games (this includes the uber idk why popular clash of clans (only the ritch in RL win that thing, screw dat poop)

As a self appointed member of the unofficial welcome wagon, I bid you hello, and welcome to the forum. I only play this game and one other, in the way of city builders. The problem being, I'm not very good at the design aspect. It only really bothers me in this game, where I have to rely on neighbors visiting me for events. My town is total trash right now, but once I get a comfortable buffer of in-game cash, I will nuke it and redesign. But, I digress. The main attraction for myself, I think, is more stuff. I am compelled to try to collect at least one of everything. I loved the show when I was younger, so that's a factor, but this game brings out the collector in me. Trying to "complete" a game that can't be completed in any traditional sense of word is I think my main attraction. Sorry for the wall of text. TL;DR: Welcome to the forum! I'm bad at city design, but trying to collect at least of one of everything with witch to design makes me say "New content? Gimme gimme GIMME!"

Tried other games, didn't like them as much as this game. Playing "Boom Beach" alongside TSTO but that shouldn't be considered a tapping game since it's more strategy than building...

I hate this game, and others like it.

But I love the Simpsons. I l think Homer is a riot. And if I want more of him than the one occasional new show on Sunday night, this is where I have to go to get it.

Same holds true for Family Guy. I like Brian & Stewie. If I could get a daily dose of these characters anywhere else, I'd be all over it.

The town building is fun too, but only to a point because I am freemium.

But this isn't a town building game, it's a collection game, and the psychological manipulation is intentionally addictive. Which I don't like a bit. But the psychological manipulation is how EA makes money. Very similar to any peddler of addictive substances.

I remember being quite addicted in my first year. When I couldn't afford my habit, I remember the frustration, and had to break their grip on me. Technically my lack of funds prevented me from giving in to it, not "will power" or anything so special. But now I have much healthier perspective.

Yes I do play everyday, several times a day, but I've not spent more than one $10 gift card, and I don't lose sleep to complete events anymore. I don't carry my tablet around like it's my drug kit. I just try to enjoy it for what it is, a free time killer that allows me some artistic expression, ala Springfield.

Welcome to the forum, thanks for asking, happy tapping!!

It's THE SIMPSONS. That's all there is to it!
I guess I could have just said THIS, too. I'm so wordy.
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

    Welcome to the forum! :)

I play Family Guy, which does bring some good things to the tablet, but overall, TSTO is better.

In comparison, TSTO events are more varied... Even playing FG totally freemium, I'm already out of land... TSTO is much more balanced and interesting overall...

FG events are all the same with different skins, and only some new ideas finally brought to the table this current event.

And TSTO is the SIMPSONS! :D

Play FG for a while and you'll see how much better fleshed out a game TSTO is. :)

I only play tsto, have tried a few others but just didn't find them as much fun as this game, for me I'm enjoying the design elements of the game but I think what keeps me coming back is the dialogue between the characters in the game it's just so funny at times that if I accidentally skip a line by accidentally double tapping then I have to search for the missing lines on the great walk through that is posted on here by our own superhero or search elsewhere to find it.

I play FG, too, and while it's got some good things going for it, it's got some really annoying things, too. Like the drop rate to get plutonium is ridiculous. And I found out too late in this event I needed a particular prize to get the final character. Now, I probably won't cuz I need about 6000 in-game currency to get it.

TSTO is very funny. Both visually and script-wise.

It's well-designed. You can play it freemium (though how anyone can resist spider pig, I don't know) and get a really good game experience.

There's lots of new content. I started playing in September and this is the 4th major event.

They make it easy to add neighbors.

It's got a very helpful forum and other good sites to help with gameplay.

Not only is designing your town fun, it's impressive to see what other people have done with theirs.

How many other games make you laugh on a regular basis?

I tried playing Family Guy, but I can't get passed a week of playing it, and I've tried over and over again.

Its a slow start, and I haven't gotten passed it.
I mostly HATE that it's a tap game, but yet the task list for the characters are so big, and you have to slide instead of tap.
For Simpsons, you can just scroll through and give a task to each character fairly quickly. Just tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, done. Family Guy was annoying for that.
I also don't like the chance items through tasks things and having to grind tasks.

I guess I just don't like tasks/goals that much, but I love collecting unique items and building a city. I love the whole look of TSTO and how easy it is to decorate.

Funny thing is, I never watched Simpsons before this.
And I LOVE Family Guy, just hate the game.

This is the only tapping game I play, unless geometry dash is considered tapping game.

    Why TSTO? 2 main reasons:

    1. It's The Simpson's, shouldn't need any reason after this, as well as their episode making fun of freemiums and than coming out with the most expensive freemium lol. I have played games debating on spending $5 for weeks to end up not paying; TSTO, would rather not admit how much I dropped in 7 months without a second thought.

    2. This is my collector game. Some people collect coins, cards, mugs, license plates. I collevt intangible Simpson characters and buildings on an electronic device where I can make my own Springfield and never have to worry about losing(for the most part :P) or damaging pieces.

TSTO until the hamster wheels stop running EA TSTO server.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I only play TSTO as I have quit the other cartoon game. It was too much...it was cutting into my forum time. Again, welcome to the forum and happy tapping!

I just like it because I've always liked The Simpsons. By "always" I mean "since I was 5" which is pretty much always.

For me it's the only game I play and I like it because it's not competitive.
It's great that I can play at the speed that I like. And that I don't have to deal with other people if I don't want to and still enjoy everything (almost).

yep hence waste of money but i guess that makes most feel better than donateing to the poor (you will get the same place weather waste it on virtual trash or donate it, exept you can make some poor person who NEEDS the money happy, or allready rich EA who only wants a platinum car instead of a gold car. happy) but atleast there will be private servers for thoe who still wanna play when EA cuts the cord, althugh mostlikly will have to start a new town and make new homies list.

Similar games I play or have played:
Tribez (stopped when game couldn't transfer off my old kindle)
Tribez and Castlez (the sequel to Tribez; did not play very long because I grew weary of having to collect twelve random items to upgrade a building)
Dragons: Rise of Berk (still playing, though they've introduced the mechanic of having to collect random things to get new dragons, rather than just letting me find an egg, so I may grow weary of it as well.)
Simcity Build it (played for awhile, haven't played lately because it takes too long to collect the random things to get land expansions. I'm noticing a pattern, here.)
Godus (played for awhile and just got bored.)
Bloons Monkey City (recently released, and so far I like it. Combines the tapping and waiting with tower defense.)
Family Guy Quest for Stuff (played for maybe a week, but collecting all the random stuff... Yeah. Also, aggressive preference for iOS, and basically requiring Facebook.)

None have held my interest as much as Tapped Out. I think it's the writing, to be honest. The storylines are highly entertaining. The variety of decoration is also kind of a big deal. Limited as the landscaping options can be, there's way more flexibility in design than in most similar games.

I normally hate these kinds of games. I don't like the tap & wait mechanic. I'm not sure what got me playing this one in the first place, but after a month or so, I was hooked. I like the creativity of building a town, the writing for the quest lines, and, I must admit there's a visceral satisfaction to be had from collecting all sorts of stuff.

Haven't touched any of the other games, so I can't offer any comparisons.

    1. Because it lets you be creative and others can see your creations and no one can destroy your town (unlike a lot of mobile device war/battle games)
    2. This game is relaxing
    3. It's a game based on the Simpsons...my favorite show since I was a young teen. :)

Nostalgia for the Simpsons. I've been watching this show from the beginning, and although the new episodes aren't quiet the same, they all remind me of being a kid. I've grown up with them; might as well play the game too.

And...once you get started, you can't stop. Just like a potato chip.

I am a huge Simpsons fan and I enjoy creating my own Springfield. Seeing what others are doing in their own towns is interesting as well. The game is relaxing for me. Except during events..I lose sleep.
