Springfield downs, surely I'm the unluckiest guy?

Yes, I have luck. But that's because I often play the 2-1 odds dog. Sometimes I deviate a bit and get lucky with other odds.

How often are you expecting to win with the 99-1 dog? You won last June, but how much prior to that have you been playing?

In the long run your profit should be about the same regardless if you always play the 2-1 dog or the 99-1 dog (key phrase is "in the long run", not looking at just one year).

    just today...

    xkwPflP.png

I always bet on the one with the highest reward. But a win like that today is very very rare...Not 8 months, like in your case, but about every 3-4 months I guess. I don't really keep track of the bets. And I don't care about the 2000 bucks I lose most of the times, because I have a few million...
It's like in real life when I go to a casino, I just wanna have a fun evening. With the difference, that I don't go there every 8 hours, I'm not a millionaire and instead of betting 2000 it's more like 20 € for the whole night... :D

btw, I don't quite remember the exact system, but in the beginning it was more fun to bet at Springfield Downs. You were able to choose between different sums (not only 2000) & odds.

Yeah, if you're going to always pick the 99-1 dog odd, you will rarely win any money, and the problem with that is when you do win, it's such a big sum of money (at least compared to the others) and it gives you such a rush, you feel like you're well ahead when you're not. Personally I picked a favourite dog (Drool Britannia-cus I'm British) and always pick him and I win quite often!!

Yes but the odds are the same for the scratchcard hatchet which I win fairly often. I play everyday and bet on the dogs at least twice a day so 8 or 9 months of losing doesn't seem to add up statistically speaking so I was wandering if others are experiencing the same? The thought of missing out on 200k bothers me but losing the stake doesn't. I can't be the only one who thinks like this?

If you notice lets say raise by wolf is the 2-1 and you picked that one and won. in 8 hrs choose that dog again most it will win again. But if it drops to the 200k right after the first race it will not win. Its not an exact strategy but its what i have noticed.

I don't think I've ever won the longshot pick. Most of the time I'm just lucky if Fat Tony doesn't fix the race.

I live in Vegas, and can tell you that it is a common misconception that 99-1 means you should average one win out of 100 over the long term, not true unless the long term is measured in millions of plays.

What 99-1 means is each time you play you have a 1 in 99 chance of winning, it doesn't matter how many times you play, each time you have the same chance.

Yes, odds do average out over the long term, but long term truly means LONG TERM.

I always bet the same dog (Not a Chance, natch) and win several times a week, across the board. Maybe pick a dog and stick with him for awhile?

That is interesting that you have had such bad luck with the dogs. Recently I have had a winning streak (I always play the long shot). I would say I have won more than usual lately; 2 or 3 times in the last month I think within the same account, but if you count my feeder towns, you can add a couple more to that.

I went through a dry spell for some time with no winnings for months, but the odds have been breaking my way lately, although it has been a very long time since I have won the scratch-R jackpot.

Tried it again last night and...Fat Tony fixed the race again.

He's currently doing a stretch in the Sprinfield prison. 8)

I always better on the same dog every time. No matter what odds it is at.

I seem to win a heck of a lot more than I did in the past.

    Drool Britannia for the win!
