I come often on the forum whenever I have a question, but there is almost always an answer, so I don't post.

Hi all, by the way ! :)

sadly there have been a couple bad apples that have driven away forum regulars. Everything is a cycle. As attrition takes place, new members will replace the old.

This is a valid point. We have seen this happen right before our eyes - I recall not too long ago a thread made by someone who usually just lurks on the forum. He did nothing wrong and was met with a nasty reply by someone almost immediately - and to the credit of the majority of the people on the forum, people expressed their outrage about the nasty post.

That is just one example, though. This happens time and time again. Someone states an opinion, someone disagrees and then the mud slinging starts. We have all seen it. And it usually is just a couple of bad apples that are doing it (not always the same ones). I know that the MOD team does their best to stop this, but there is really only so much they can do as there is so much going on here. Instead of discussions, we often see mud slinging and bullying. It scares away potential new contributors, and some of the older forum members have gotten to the point where they are so tired of seeing this and/or being the target of this that they feel they have to leave.

I think that we all need to remember to respect each other a bit more. No single one of us is better than any other member - that includes EVERYONE. We all have valid opinions whether others agree or not. If we keep these things in mind and stick to discussion and having fun rather than belittling, bullying and harassing then people will start to come here again. We may even see some old faces return.
I don't normally post on this section but I think it's still the same a lot of threads being made regular. But the forum in general is quite well on Ot anyway but it will come good in the end

I think Nick also makes a good point. People come and people go - such is the nature of a forum. Circle of life, and such.

Thats why I dont participate in discussions, there is always mud slinging comment with at the end your the "Bad person"
Also all things you say is riped out of its context and deliberately misunderstood.

Thats childish and I do not participate suchs topics

Respect and friendly is my moto. 8)

Its only a game where we all whant the same thing.

They foolishly endured the likes of Josh for far too long.

Also, I will contend that since this event and the previous couple of events have been so good there is little to legitimately complain about. That'll remove a ton of activity from these forums.

I'd rather have it that way.

Ooh I was hoping you'd revive that old avatar style! This place seemed emptier without it.

    I agree with this.

Previous events had a lot more to discuss. This one seems pretty will designed, and we are busy doing our thing.

I recall much of the past posting here being rants about what someone dislikes, then dozens of responses suggesting those dislikes are unwarranted or over critical, then complaints about the complaints, then responses defending the original complaint, and basically a bunch of bickering.

Lately I see posts in OT of people having fun playing posting games, posts the Showcase displaying creative designs, and posts in discussion speculating future game themes.

Basically more fun and less drama. So....

I don't really have a problem with how the forum is lately.

I've been playing for a little over a year and reading the forum but have hesitated to post because of some mean spirited comments I've seen. That being said.. when I DID post a few questions the forum regulars answered me right away and were very helpful and friendly. Now I don't worry about snarky comments since the Mod's and regulars will put the negative posters in their place.

I think it's been a lot better recently, i actually enjoy visiting again. I don't spend a lot of time here, but it seems a lot less mean sprited than use to be. I don't think the decline has to do with the events, but more so because of how some people react to threads. If not rude or nasty, then condescending, as if their opinion and experience with the game, is the only one that matters. I've noticed I don't see a lot of names I use to, and the people who were attacked don't return.
    It can sometimes feel claustrophobic.
I think it gets to the point that even I became defensive with someone who made a comment in jest, but it was quietly handled behind the scenes, and it worked out fine.
But such is the nature of this forum, for every 5 good, decent and positive people, there always a mean person just waiting to pounce and ruin someone's experience.

Another source of posting and vitriol was over limited time items.

EA has very loudly and repeatedly demonstrated there is no issue with re-issuing previously seen limited time items.

So the jerks that posted about how it would make their SF less special because they couldn't feel superior to newer players had their position crushed as few times over.

Sorry to hear this forum isn't as busy as it used to be.

Let me go fix that with another Brandine thread...

I agree with the wise tappers who stated that we have been too busy tapping. I only have 7 hrs a day dedicated to the forum and TSTO...and with all those cool Zenith City buildings you best believe I die dedicated more time to tapping.

    Happy tapping!
