(I did some best case scenario calculations and my town with 4 kooks, 5celebs,16 kids earns 1374 masks per day and 500 more per day once 10 entrepreneurs are added (I'm treating Apu like an entrepreneur even though hes currently just a kooks) (the lvl 6 upgrade is definitely worth it, I want the opera seats so lvl 7 is an easy yes.

I think lvl 8 is recoupable in 6 days if you are logging in 7-8 times a day I just don't think that's sustainable for me.

Level 9 is premium heavy (ie Father Sean, Maude) & Rod and Todd have a 6 hour maak job (& would encourage even more frequent tapping which I dislike)

ymmv of course but I wouldn't want to upgrade if I wasn't going to recoup the cost on a login schedule I like (and ea could change something else midact likr they slashed the spawn rate in act 2 making herbicide calculations less useful

Oh dear...this is going to be complex and mind-boggling. Lots to think about and plan for...
I have all the characters (including premium) and want to get to level 7.
Beyond that, I don't know if I should upgrade past that. I do have the characters for level 9, but if they have only 2 hour tasks or 1 hour tasks - I cant login hourly. Maybe ill see how much time is left once I get to level 7.

I want both the cactus patch and the houseboat. That's all the remaining prizes I want except for the personal prizes which im going to get anyways through music notes (which of course are completely separate from opera masks etc)

I basically looked at the character task groups and wrote down all the characters I had who were Kooks, Celebrities, Youngsters, Entrepreneurs, Criminals and Saints (some crossover btn groups Apu is a Kooks and an Entrepreneur, Todd and Rod are Youngsters who are saints).

I know that I would prefer a 4 hour login cycle (with one added visit at 6 hours from when I start) but that if I have the chance to log in more frequently I'll be tempted (which leads to logging in every two hours, which will frustrate me if I can only get 5 extra walls with all that effort).

and actually, I don't want to recommend anything because lower level players with fewer characters might need the upgrade to lvl 8 and lvl 9. basically I'm working on lvl 6 right now and I'll see how I feel after lvl 7 (I don't know if the upgrade changed drop rates)

The more I look at it the more resolved that 7 will be my stopping level. Reaching 7 is worth it for the second set of seats and payout increase.

Looking at the prizes this round the only one I want is the houseboat. So there is no need to spend 3300 masks for some 1 and 2hr tasks when I only need 9600 total. I'll be sending my characters back to the fert/corn/DNA mines after that.

After much thought and reflection, I'm stopping at 7 as well. Criminals on task for level 8 is tempting, but I dont think I will recoup from that level once I go there. For 700 dna and 1575 you get 2 hour tasks for 6 people paying 8 masks each. Thats 32.8 2 hour tasks to recoup (unless my math is wrong). I personally dont think the payoff can justify the expense for someone who just wants the houseboat and doesnt have the time to play every 2 hours.

After you get the houseboat, is there any point of raising more fert/corn/dna? You'll have tons by then and there isnt much all to craft unless its minor things that we really dont have to have (but would be nice depending on ones personal taste).

    Yep,
Just the minor things like multiple fields or walls and I may craft a second gas station. I'll spend whatever I can earn and figure out what to do with it after the event.

Actually since fat tony is in the Entrepreneurs group, thats only 2 hour tasks for 5 people instead of 6 aaaaand im too tired tonight to do the math to figure the rest of the equation out...long story short, level 7 is the best level to stop upgrading at.

technically 8 people (fat tony, legs, louie, quimby, sideshow bob, francesca, dr robert, snake) but Quimby has a dna task, fat tony has the entrepeneur task, sideshow bob has lots of dna tasks (and questline duties). (it's a 2 hour task, I dislike them on principle but if you like playing that frequently the upgrade may be worthwhile

I never imagined this game would require so much theorycrafting. I'm not saying I'm hating it. It's really interesting on a certain level.

I like It. It's simple, yet you have to be very strategic based on how often you play.

To high prices for crafting Items, but overall, I like this event.

One of the big problems with it is that people are looking for consensus, but there are multiple variables that are going to be different for each person. Without knowing the number of characters somebody has or the number of times someone is logging in, it makes it more difficult to determine.

I personally will be going to level 9, because I have been logging in close to every hour for 18 hours a day. Getting to the one hours mask task will help me. I am already at level 7 and 1000 away from level 8. I will have that by the end of the day. It has been a nice break not needing to log in as much with longer tasks, but I still find myself doing it so I might as well get back to one hour tasks.

I'm thinking level 7 makes sense.

According to the Wiki, there's no increase in payout after level 7 until level 10, and the increase is very small. Also, only criminals and saints have jobs added after 7, and there just aren't very many of them. I think it would be tough to make back the materials spent upgrading after 7.

BTW, I say this as someone who upgraded Monsarno to level 28: as a rule, I'm not afraid of upgrading!

I agree with Level 7. I dont see how you can earn the DNA/Masks back by the little payout increase. Saying this, my Monsarno is level 15 and herbicide 13 (I may go to herbicide 15 though - maybe :!: ).

The problem with the upgrades is that it mostly just unlocks groups of characters, not new characters. Payout increase is negletible (even if it sound good in %, it is still just 1 or 2 more of each). So you would find several different tasks for one character, but still none for Marge or Luigi, blue haired lawyer, Mindy just to name a few...

in the theater/mask case, it seems to have unlocked a couple new ones so far... Luigi and Arti Ziff now have tasks with the entrepreneur group to 'sell seat cushions', so at least they can be useful now.

I'm getting tempted to go for Level 9 instead of settling for 7.

3,000 masks is expensive, but with so many days left still to grind, I fear I'll regret leaving the criminals tasks on the table. It's such a waste to have them earn worthless corn.

Its going fast, now level 9 allready so 9000 will be no problem I think, remember I have from tomorrow lots of time to chech each hour for a couple of days so only upgrade to 9 if you can be more online the next days. 8)

Another reason to upgrade to level 9 is the red box tasks. It will be nice to have an extra 1 and 2 hour task to get more musical notes.

I'm starting to change my mind. I just don't want any characters earning corn I'll never use, so I'll probably go to level 8. Don't think it'll make any real difference, and I see little reason to go to 9 since there are so few saints that don't already have tasks earning theatre masks. However, I just don't want any more corn!

I was going to stop at level 8 I'm on 7 now, but I'll carry on to 9 if we get the red box back. It makes sense.

    I calculate diff.

    Example:

In 3h I go to work for 8h ( no chance to tab in those 8h)

    If I am lvl 7, I get them to work 4h, 6h, 8h, 12h .. and after work I get those payout
    If I am lvl 9, I get them to work those 3h I m still at home (some 2h, or 1h) and before I go away back to 4h, 6h, 8h, 12h...

It gives me a profit of 3x 1h + the long task

    .]

It seems to me that if you play constantly, you should probably upgrade to at least level 9. If you don't play as often (or don't want to feel obligated to play constantly), level 7 is good enough. Frankly, I've been doing so much tapping since this event began that I'm inclined to stop at level 7 and leave out the seven or so characters I'd be able to add to mask collecting were I to upgrade to 9. As long as I can win the Simpsons houseboat, that's good enough for me.
