1. Vandalizing gives you payouts for buildings that don't normally earn money, which is awesome for you.
2. A tricky person can tap up to 6 buildings in a neighbor's SF rather than 3 by vandalizing (two regular buildings plus the 4 graffiti-able buildings), which is awesome for them and also you because of point #1.
3. Building a bunch of training walls will prevent any amount of vandalizing from having any effect on your Righteousness rating, so it doesn't matter what they do.
4. If you still don't want it you can always unfriend anyone doing it. With the "add me" thread, it's absurdly easy to get back up to 100 neighbors if you so desire.
 this
I have one neighbor who's gotten very good at hitting most of mine. Doesn't bother me at all. He gets extra taps and I get the goodies from buildings I normally don't.
I don't know the exact amount for the brown house with and without a handshake, but I currently have a handshake on a Kwik-E-Mart, and conveniently on Moe's as well. Clearing Moe's gives me $20/2xp. The handshake Kwik-E-Mart gives me $26/3xp, while the regular gives $7/2xp (a difference of $19/1xp, roughly what I got from Moe's).
This is what I mean about the multiplier affecting if the amount is exactly identical or not (I phrased that, how you say, inelegant.) The regular payout for a Kwik-E-Mart is $5/1xp, but with my multiplier of around 30% that makes it $6.5/1.3xp (and I guess it always rounds up?). The base payout for a friend visit is, math tells me, $15/1 xp. Alone, with a 30% payout is $20/2xp (Moe's), and when you add the base Kwik-E-Mart rent to it ($5/1xp+$15/1xp=$20/2xp) and with the 30% multiplier it's $26/3xp
Well, I'll be dammed. Anyone know how long it's been like that? Because I checked regularly when I started playing to see if handshakes did anything. Never got more money, just the timer reset.
You don't even have to hide the training walls - with a little camo they (mostly) look like tall walls.
Ooh, that's pretty nice. I'm gonna copy that idea! I've got all my training walls hidden behind buildings, but why should they be hidden when they can be used like this.
I thought this as a joke at first. Vandalizing neighbors is part of the game, it's fun and I love it when I do it and when others do it to me. I'm really surprised others take the game so seriously that they would rant about it.

So with all this being said, what's the final verdict? Is vandalizing hurting or helping a player? Does it matter the level they are at? I try to help my neighbors as much as I can. I often vandalize and since finding out the trick to do more, I use that as often as I can. I have always seen the vandalizing as being helpful since the neighbor gets money from a building it would 't normally.
Sigh being morally justified is tricky and this is perhaps the most accurate of tsto's meter....look a dictionary joke...*snort* (õ.õ)
IMHO
So...in etiquette I kinda posted (because I am pompous enough to think myself a tsto Emily Post...oh wait, I was being righteous *snort*...too soon?)
High levels should avoid vandalizing lower levels. But vandalize a vandalizer. (Should I update that)
It is my understanding that it's a point system. Each thing (penitentiary, police station, swat van, training walls) is, like, 10 points each...not enough...but being righteousness it's super cheap and ambiguous...*snort*
Vandalizing drops you 5 points per and cleaning (within an hour, right?) won't give it all back (moral superiority being what it is...see what I did there *snort*)
And sideshow bob points is even more elusive now...
So...anyone under level 30(?) that can't buy a ton of training walls won't keep righteousness up with vandalizing
However those under level 20(?) who are busting to building revenue need the vandalizing to generate income to level up.
So again...it's player preference and playing style...
Seeking like minded players is key to harmony
Are conform-o-meter problems, like, so level 40?
Now wiedmannaj...correct everything I just said quick so I can edit and look cool (°!°)
I agree with the "tap whatever you like philosophy."
Unless the OP selected friends only from Graffiti Free pledge thread, there is absolutely no way for their neighbors to know what your position is on slinging paint.
If you see the graffiti buildings clustered together, as they are in my town, then the player is aware of the glitch and making it easier for you to play it. In that case tap away.
Training walls seem a relatively simple solution for those with objection to level drops. For the Better Homes and Gardens set, dump the offenders and find those of like mind.

Just verified that there is a bonus payout from the handshakes - seems to be $25 for me, with a 61.25% multiplier. Haven't had graffiti in the last few hours (come on people, Graffiti Me! ) , so I can't say for sure what the payout is there. Certainly it wasn't like this when I first started. I remember checking and seeing that there was no extra payout for a handshake, just the regular payout and timer reset. Changes the dynamic a little, I guess, but I still like graffiti!
