EA sets the pricing. They could have had a minimum of 1 donut, but apparently chose not to.

They also decided to let you revive a player with 1 donut or 1 obestoade, but charge the equivalent price of 6 donuts for one obestoade if you buy the obestoade in the shop. That's not consistent, and who is to say what EA intended. And they may have intended exactly what it is.
Losing with your 3-star team to a 5-star team pays more AB than winning to a 2.5-star team. Some might think that was a "glitch". But it is how the game is programmed. (And if you know how the ELO system works, then you aren't that surprised.)
