Request: list of the optional quest lines/buildings

I'm almost certain the post office was required for a quest with Smithers.

Your best bet would probably be to Ctrl+F the walkthrough to see whether a certain building is mentioned or not. Bear in mind that there may still be progress requirements not mentioned by the walkthrough, though. (E.G. some people can't build the hospital until they have a couple orange houses.)

I have done none of the things I mentioned in the thread, yet new quests keep triggering.
I haven't finished Dr Hibberts quest, so I haven't started the hospital...Yet I've already gotten the Buddhist Temple, The Legitimate Businessmans building, The Wiggum House, el chemistri, etc so all of those have triggered.

The game seems very nonlinear. I now see the Post Office is indeed required to finish "Executive Lackey" yet the subsequent tasks have already triggered?

Smithers has a quest there and Adult Education Annex Lenny has a quest there

Yes, and it would be beneficial for them to have their hour quests, but all the other quest lines after these have...even though the others weren't completed.

the walkthroughs are outdated some of the stuff unlocks in a different order now as you can see
