I was thinking the same thing. I think we're in for some doughnut inflation...maybe all the way up to eclairs.

Perhaps there will be some really expensive stuff in the future?

I look at it from a different point of view. I think it's a way of getting people to buy donuts.
My example being, I bought Otto and his bus with the donuts I saved up from the start of the game.
Once I had him, I was unstoppable. I loved the feel of having a premium item, and it looked great!
I now have everything I want, almost every premium item available, and tons of decorations.

So if anyone else thinks like that, ea are being sneaky, and it may workin their favour

I like the idea they make it hard to get donuts as is I see plus it's nice not having to pay for donuts for once

It's because they are about to raise the price in donuts of newly added premium items in the next update. It is the sugar before the *.

Don't forget that they are thinking about the masses. The people that frequent this forum probably equate to just 1% or 2% of the total playing public and most casual users will likely only have a handful of friends so won't be collecting the 300+ coins per day that we are. So they won't be giving that many donuts away to them. So for the casual user it's an intro to what you can get with a few donuts. EA aren't stupid.

I kinda agree with you. I've spent a lot of money on donuts to have premium stuff. Now premium is springing up everywhere, it's making my Springfield feel a little less special. I spent 60 donuts to buy 3 reindeer and now everyone has whole herds of them.

That being said, I don't really mind that wealth is being distributed a bit more. I think they want people to get hooked on buying premium so that they can't stop... Like me

Seems like great business. Most people will be able to pull down some donuts but likely not enough to get the bigger premiums. Probably not even Otto. So they'll have incentive to now buy the rest. And once you start it is hard to stop :)

I think, in a way, changing the length of the speed-up cancel helps do this also. I used to dump donuts on a Buddha when I got to 15 because otherwise I'd lose them speeding up a Brown house or something equally stupid

I think it's their way of giving us a small holiday gift. I don't doubt that they took notice of everyone talking about the leftover Halloween treats (since they commented about it at the start of the Christmas update) and decided to do something nice for the holidays. In return, I'm sure people will end up buying more donuts if they are a few shy of getting an item they really want.

We will have to wait and see if premium items increase in cost or not. I appreciate that perhaps EA recognizes the fact this Christmas add-on had a lot of issues and maybe they are trying to encourage people to continue playing and buying donuts. I lost a lot of days where I couldn't do anything and ended up spending many many donuts to catch up. I let EA know I was on the verge of getting my money back from Apple and never playing again. At least now I feel I will continue playing and buying donuts to play.

There won't be a raise in prices. That's just being overly paranoid. With all of the issues this game has had, it is obvious this is to keep people playing.

This was my thinking. At first I thought "wow that's potentially a LOT of free donuts!" but then realized most players will not have 100 friends and play obsessively. I only had 2 RL friends during the Halloween event and barely made enough to get the special items before the event was over. I'm sure I had fewer than 100 treats leftover at the end.

I definitely agree also that it's a teaser for all the people who might not otherwise buy donuts. At the beginning of the xmas event I finally bought just enough to get the Volcano Lair, which got me totally hooked. So by the time Gil came around I ended up buying a bunch - twice  Told myself I spent as much as I would on a new xbox game, and I never end up playing those! So yeah, for a lot of people they just need need that first taste and they'll figure out a way to justify it.

I agree - like many, once I'd bought donuts the first time, it wasn't long before I had every premium item I could get my hands on.

I also like to hope it's a nice little gesture from EA for all the issues the game has suffered - goes to show that our complaints don't go unnoticed. After all - the Xmas update was originally supposed to be finished by now, so it's obvious that the Mystery Stocking was a last minute addition to the game to tide us through until the 10th.

Whatever the reason - I'm not grumbling, it's not devalued donuts in my opinion - more so, it's enforced the fact that I will be likely to spend money on more when the next lot of premium item's drop.

pfft. devaluation? no. this isn't a drop in the water for EA. plus you know there's plenty more premium items coming with every update. EA tossed us a bone. nothing more. it is a nice gesture though.

So EA finally decides to throw us a bone by making it easier to get doughnuts, and people complain of devaluation? Sheesh.

The way I see it, everyone wins. EA gets more interest in donuts. Marginal players get a taste. The Springfield miscreants (myself included) are pacified... Just remember, the first taste is free, but it's all downhill from there. (insert junkie and/or obesity joke)

Stock of the Springfield Donut has never been higher. Buy, buy, buy!

That is a good point, incredulous.
A lot of new players started with the christmas update and surely don't know how precious donuts are, since hard to get without cash.

Doesn't bother me that it surely is also a method to get you buying more. They are not a help organization (for the lack of a better word), so it's always also business-related.

Still, they are a gift and I am thankful for it!
