I was having this issue too. Delete the app and reinstall.

I've also had this issue before. When I was close to maxing out the memory on my I phone, the game kept doing this to me. Although I had enough room to download all of the updates and play, the game would still update every time I left and came back. I had to clear more memory and it seemed to quit after that.
