The mechanics of visiting friends is so tiresome, as mentioned in the other thread, its almost not worth it. I still do it daily to be a good neighbor.
Theres over 150 characters to use, why set us up with crafting conflicts between SH crafting, monorail crafting, campfire, and the Hallooween buildings as to the characters that can be used for each crafting set? (Of course, in my second town the monorail is glitched out to reset in 41 days so I guess I dont have conflicts there :? )
There have been better Halloween story lines, but I really really love M'nther, hes so...cute and scary. I want him wandering in my town.
Even though its not the greatest Halloween ever, I'm stoked about getting the 20 donuts. I'm also trying to get my track pieces and +5 donuts at the same time but its taking longer because of those characters being on Halloween tasks.
Everyone complains we can't get consumerism rating up without kwik e marts and people are mad they gave us balloons to do it and FREE KODOS, FREE wailing and spooky walls to increase our town bonus percentage?
And i appreciate there's several layers of story line to follow. Like, even though i already had Hugo, there's a story line with Bart. It's kind of like a small Simpsons comic book.
The Hugo quest is a repeat of the same one when he first appeared. It's not new.

This too. I had to stop on my monorail because it was pointless. So many characters tied up elsewhere left me no one to earn to even remotely think about winning my 5 donuts from it. My Heights had barely anyone earning as well. Too much crafting going on in Springfield methinks. I miss the old days of no crafting.
I'm still on pace to get the mono rail prizes even with sending the halloween people to do halloween things. It takes me longer but I'm still going to make it most likely.
we've just started guys there's so much more to see, and they can always add more stuff during it we haven't seen. muuuch stuff
Am still hanging onto the hunch that new content is being hidden and will show up with an update. Doesn't make sense that they aren't releasing new characters with an event - would be a very odd first. Doesn't make sense that we would end an event with nothing to craft.
Am speculating it's something BIG
So far EA has set a precedence this year for giving us what we want - sideshow bob, monorail, bad dream house now has a task among other favorites. They even made it easier to drop terrors this event.
Must have been having a bad day yesterday. This tapper is back to happy tapping, hoarding just in case and hopeful for a super awesome surprise.
Agreed with everyone here.
-They should've used a past ToH episode for inspiration instead.
-"prizes" are just a bunch of new skins (Tapball all over again), and not enough new buildings/decos
-no new characters (Tapball all over again, not counting that horse that was premium)
-I have no idea what I'm going to craft, since I already had everything that's been offered before. I'm just hoping there's something we don't know about coming, because this is crap.
+building/house skins, although all houses getting them would have been preferred
+At least we're getting donuts for the (easily doable) challenges. That's this event's saving grace.
I think TSTO had a tough task of living up to THOH events of the past which are [I think] everyone's favorite [reoccuring event so not something like Whacking Day or Stonecutter's] and this year they geared it more toward new players [nothing really for returning players]. So I think on this forum, we are generally disappointed because we are pretty hardcore players [which is why, of course, we are part of a forum]. There were some items that were fun/cool [loving the impossible tower] but a lot of items are not really revolutionary or must-have, for me anyway.
I think I've found a happy medium. There are things I'm disappointed about and also things I really enjoy about this event.
I really like the Campfire, forest trees, the balloons etc.. The storyline, character interactions and that there's plenty to do, but it doesn't feel like a grind.
I dislike that it lacks a Halloween feel to this event. Not enough new items. I don't mind the skins, but I think all the characters should be in the costumes they wore on the show, even if it's only for the event. It just doesn't feel like the Major event that we usually get.
Halloween Krustyland would have also been awesome.
But overall I really like this event so far.
there were 3 stages of mood for me in this event so far:
1. stage: hate. i was pretty disappointed in the lack of new characters, the trend of skin only events (like **** and tapball), and the lack of new decorations i like.
2. stage: love. i quickly changed my mind as most of the decorations arent as bad as i thought. i love the spooky groves, the impossible tower and the elder god stuff. still, the lack of characters didnt change, but it was outweighted by the positive stuff.
3. stage: despair. mostly because of the THoH tie in with the big a** pond, i completely ran out of space. my town is full of stuff, i dont even have space for things to com in the next act/next level update. i (and im sure im not alone on this) need more land, the good old problem.
Game mechanics are good. Prizes are a little weak especially with so many repeats from last year. I have a ton of rabbit ears, snake eggs, bones and brains that I doubt I will end up using. I also have almost 800 formless terrors that I can't seem to get rid of because all my neighbors are maxed out when I visit (I even tried visiting at different times of the day).
I am also getting tired of the same characters getting tasked for crafting. Its hard to craft rail pieces when half of your crew is off making s'mores or gathering at the Simpson house or drinking wine ect.

Indeed. If only the FG Halloween event is as easy as this one. Now THAT'S a grind.

+1. Not to mention can be very expensive if you want to stay current. Haven't spent one donut in TSTO Halloween.
I quite like it.
Still rather blah though IMO.
