It's going to be another day of counting down to the update isn't it?
I remember the ridiculous frenzy while we waited for the Christmas update. Endless threads and speculation and impatient chomping at the bit. "Nothing can live up to this, it's just going to be a sea of disappointment when it hits", thought I.
And then the snow came....
Whatever happens come tomorrow, it'll be nowhere near as exciting as that update, though I'm predicting that the return to lush greenery will briefly blow our minds.
Junk the Christmas stuff (people can choose to keep the lights, but the coins go) but I'm really hoping that the snow stays for at least another month. No sense in EA having put all that work in for such a short period of time.
My ideal update would be:
- level 25 (duh....)
- ditch the coins
- remove the limited time premium purchases
- keep the snow
- add Mr. Plow and Plow King storyline
- add Gil full time (he could be the one to sell Homer the plow)
- add one other character (not Ralph -- see below) and a building or two
Why not Ralph? I'm glad you asked. The timing of the update is too soon to really capitalize on Ralph's inclusion. He would be better introduced in the February update, which should come between February 5-10 (most updates have come on the 5, but it may slide given the lateness of January's).
If Ralph comes in February, its the perfect tie in to Valentine's Day. You can have a short story with that, since Valentine's Day really (really, really, really) does not need a full Halloween/Christmas remaking of the game.
Of course, much of this is predicated on EA doing things logically. They could well chuck all the work they put into the snow to bring back all the greenery, bring in Ralphie and skip Valentine's Day altogether....
I with on on Ralph, Mike, but I think it's time for the snow to thaw. It looks pretty but it's difficult to really do any designing when everything's under that white layer and all the trees and flowers are gone. Plus, in my mind Winter only exists in November and December and I want to imagine that Spring is already on the way.

That's because you don't live in Winterland (a.k.a. Canada). If you did, you would know that winter lasts from October to April. Unless you live in Vancouver or Toronto of course.
As someone who really dislikes the rain, I'll gladly stay here in Winterland before joining you in the Jolly Ol'.
Although I did visit England with the family back in 86. If I could find the minitape VHS converter (and a working VHS machine, of course), I could re-watch the fascinating video of us in a roundabout with my dad in the background saying "There's Big Ben. And there's Big Ben again. Hey, look, there's it is again...."
What I'd really like is a couple new levels for once instead of this piecemeal, one at a time, release. They give away too much xp each time to not legitimize releasing two or three levels at once. What is a level in this game: an extra building? An extra character (maybe)? Just achieving the next level, then watching all of that wasted xp is nonsensical.

The XP being given away aren't for the people who've been maxed at Level 24 for the last three weeks, they're for the new players who are farther behind in the game and are trying to catch up.
