Why is EA so controlling? So frustrating and boring!

Then, why are you still playing? If something isn't fun anymore then it's time to walk away. Don't worry about EA, they'll be fine. TSTO is a game of patience. Rome wasn't built in a day. How "fun" would it be if all prizes were obtainable on day one? Then we'd have people complaining about how easy it is.

How can we make this game fun again OP?

    Yes, very cranky.

How to make it better? What about less greed and more letting the players do their own thing, not so hemmed in. It worked.

I'm sure EA won't notice missing another player when I leave, still many left, but business that disrespect and disregard their customers end up with no business. Happened to many before.

Nothing personal to fellow gamers, not their fault. Anyone wants a free town?

    Uh...:

    1. All events have been do-able "freemium" since I started playing, waaaayyyy back at the start of 2013. The only time it didn't seem possible (on paper) was Halloween 2015 (Act 3) - fighting M'nthster had currency bonuses that increased the total, but you weren't made aware of it unless you noticed your totals before & after. I've usually cleared 'em with at least 4-5days to spare.
In all honesty, if you're not playing regularly during an event (say, at least 3x a day), you shouldn't expect to get everything. If it was so easy, diligent players would be finished & bored within the first week!!

    2. As with 1., events are usually staggered nowdays so people don't get bored. I cleared Halloween 2013's items in the first week, and had 4+ weeks of boredom (& lots of lovely bonus donuts!!). The key to freemium gaming is enticing spending, and for that you need to retain players. That's what EA seems to be concentrating on with all these multi-Act events for the last year+.

    3. Especially of late, EA seem to have moved away from encouraging rushing to encouraging purchasing. Limited-time decos & characters help with the event, and "always available" premium characters can help from time to time (Monorail, S Heights, Xmas building tasks, etc.). It's nice to something for your donuts rather than rush for an early award.

So all in all, I do disagree with most of what you said.
But it IS just a game, so if you don't enjoy it, it's probably better for you that you do something you value with your free time. :-)

If it wasn't fun, I wouldn't bother, but maybe that's just me.

This event, neighbors might not help much, but I have awesome neighbors who have helped me immensely in past events. So every event is different... that's what keeps it fun for me.

Heights is not fun, just a chore. The events are dragging too much lately. I can't catch up on other stuff cause I'll miss the limited stuff. New players it must be even harder for

I take it you've never played 'Quest for stuff'? Now there's a game that it's pretty much impossible to get ahead in without dropping a ton of money.

EA does occasionally make blatant money grabs with offering limited items/characters for donuts, but I've never seen anything resembling them dealing from the bottom of the deck as far as events go. A freemuim player should be able to complete (if not just barely) all events without spending donuts by the end of the allotted time just by playing 3 to 4 times a day. They might miss out on the bonus rounds, but that really should be it.

And crafting varies from event to event. I think they change it up each time to keep it from being boring and to try and make us happy. But if one part of the game (like events) causes you grief, ignore them. You don't have to play every part. I'm still not a fan of the SH's crafting (and by not a fan, I mean I think it's the biggest pain in the @$$ ever), so I cleared the land and forgot about it. It tires me to even think about continuing the grind - so I don't think about it :P

I have been a freemium player for 3 years now.
There were a few event i didn't get everything... Mostly because i have a life and not always able to log in 3 times a day.
But i dont care... I have fun and if i dont want or can play the game for a few days so be it.

I like that it took me 3 years to get this far. As a teen i loved playing the Sims, but with cheats and stuff i got everything so fast i lost the fun of it.

And of course EA tries to make money out of it... Its a company... They do business.
It is your choice if you spend money or not...

Happy tapping or click on the delete button.

I got a haircut today and am glad the lady took her time. It looks much nicer than the average $7.99 haircut!

A slow cut is better than a quick and rough cut, for sure.

It's very doable to get the last prize just logging in a few times a day tapping and tapping bears. I'm about 15% of the way to my 2nd bonus box, which I should get easily. I did buy Lucille, but she barely helps.

Really, the Easter event is the only one where it wasn't exactly feasible to finish as pure-freemium. That awful Easter event.

You can't receive points from your neighbors visiting. You get a limited amount of points from visiting neighbors, So that it isn't worth to bother visiting. You have to wait untill they drop whatever amount of bears/trolls pleases them; no matter what you do you're never sure if you'll get the last prize - unless you use doughnuts, of course.

You can't buy next to nothing with in game $ you're forced in the hateful practice to "craft" for stupid things like walls, etc. never getting the exact amount you'd want.

It looks like the whole system is crafted to make us impatient and frustrated so we use real money.

These last "events" have been more a "chore" than fun playing. Many towns have gone dark. Not surprisingly.

I'm questioning myself: if it isn't fun, why bother? :(
Try Family Guy TQFS - that is absolutely, unquestionably set up to force the purchasing of clams if you want to achieve any sort of success with events.
I'd disagree you have to spend real money with TSTO - if you put the time in you can complete events without donuts.

Act 3 is on good pace... I login twice a day, and more during weekend... I'm able to complete Act 3 and collected the last prize (baby) yesterday, which was 3 days before end day.

No donut has been spent on Act 3. And I only visit 3 friends a day.

    I like Act 3. :)
