my game started back at the beginning (level 1) even though I'm signed in

Sign out, sign back in - if that doesn't help - redownload the game - if not that - ea support for a restore....

Same thing happened to me about a week ago. Needed to uninstall and reinstall before it would correct itself.

remember to NEVER start playing while downloading the files or it'll do that next time you start

When mine is downloading new files, it always gives me the option to tap and play while it's downloading, which I never have because it just seems like it should mess up something. Question is, why do they give that option if it corrupts the files being downloaded? ...and this should be added in the "tips for Newbies" thread.

The Tap to Start Playing is for a new game only. Since you're logged in it starts playing a new game - with your current user name. As in "Oh, so you want to start over from the beginning? Sure, you can do that."

Log in from another device.

I've had this happen to me before, and reinstalling didn't clear it up for very long.

But logging in from another device has kept it away for a while now.
