The points is earned by crafting objects, getting prices or buying premium items. Has nothing to do with the amount of chips you've got as i have understand it.

The Players' Club prize track does not use chips as its counter, but rather Players' Club points, which you earn (as stated above) by placing prizes, buying premium items, etc. You got 120 points for placing the first prize from the regular prize track.
