Managing RailYard during Casino Event

Prev134
yes I'm finding it tough going. I've usually got my five donuts long before now but am only just coming up to getting five track pieces. I will continue concentrating on the Casino then if I need to I will spend Monday doing the rail yard to ensure I get my donuts.

I'm glad I was able to finish this week. The only tip I can throw in is to leverage the opportunity for a one hour cycle if you know you can't check in for more than four hours. For example I made metal an hour before bedtime then started the casino when done. The casino was going to be ready in the am in either case. It is going to be a grindy month.

yeah, usually I have 1 hour to spare at the end of the day, and get the opportunity to produce 60 metals, but still i find myself short... best of luck to you all

I usually can finish up the railyard in two and a half days -- this week it took 3 and half. But that was with a couple days before the event started.

The big crunch as others have mentioned is metals. What, four metal makers are tasked at the casino? Unfortunately I had almost exclusively metal tasks this week (despite having nearly all glass tasks a week ago). Unless you can check in hourly for the metals a couple times a week, it will be hard to complete.

Same here.. as an dded bonus, this go round I keep getting big requests for metal across the board and only having 3 characters free to hit it is a pain.. usually done by Thursday.. still working on th 50k mark now on Saturday

I "think" I can make it by Monday but it is a challenge this go round..

Right now, I'm at about 58,000. I've had a few short runs of glass. But in general it's been a lot of metal. Like other's have mentioned. I try to send everyone on a metal run or 2 when I have an hour or 2 before a long time away from the game.

Maxing out and preloading for next week will be a problem at least during act 1 of this event.

I'm experiencing a problem trying to get metal due to only two characters (Mr Burns and the hippie) being available when all characters are at the casino. I'm currently sacrificing four coins for logging on every hour to get 240 metal. :D

I decided to finish the Rail Yard first before putting people in the casino. Having just bought Jesse with the release of the Redwood has really helped! I refuse to give up on my 5 donuts so will continue to go full out on it. You still have characters at the casino so its not a total loss. I was lucky to finish the railyard early Friday morning and so everyone has been doing their 4 hours at the casino since.

The previous week, I was able to get 35k before the update hit, so I'm not sure how the casino jobs will effect the payout. I was able to finish on Friday (including maxing out all resources), but it might take longer without as many characters to produce metal. This makes me kind of glad I hought Jesse Grass though, as he (along with the hippie) really helps out recycling metal.

Get Jesse......'nuf said. I have my five monorail donuts already, have maxed out the railyard for next week and am well into the upgrade at the Casino. Jesse does all the jobs at the recycling center and (in my opine) is worth his cost. He's the only donut expense I've incurred.

Since many have said before metal is in short supply, especially without Premium characters. That's why I focus on the plastic and glass tasks.

I got lucky with my tasks too since I didn't have a lot with metal so I got to finish a day later than I usually do (Friday).

Also as said before in the thread, checking in every hour (and putting the hippie on metal) really helps.

Love jesse, he can work all 4 stations, and if you have the hippie he can work the 3 crafting stations , roy paterson can only collect trash so he sucks.
if you have brandine she can recycle metal, however i only have 1 spuckler kid so im trying to work on the next 2.

Bottom line, its manageable but difficult, things are working themselves and unless things change (premium getting double currency for example) i wont be to frazzled, im just seriously annoyed that this keeps happening.

    best strategy?

If your going to bet tappin for short yet consistent bursts (checking every hour) keep them on metal
if your going out or going to work switch em to the casino as chances are its a better investment, it also depends on the luck of the draw sometimes you only have metal jobs and thats brutal for an event like this.

I had Brandine and all the kids by the end of the monorail event, so I've had her burns and the hippie making metal. This week wasn't bad as I was halfway through the rail yard before the event started, and my life supported being on to restart the three metal makers more frequently than usual, next week will be the test. I may not even bother.

This week took longer than normal for Rail Yard (partially because of casino stuff and partially due to bad luck, like needing lots of glass constantly or something).

I'm probably not going to do Rail Yard for rest of event though. Earlier this week I had all my casino items shoved near my recycling area. Once done with rail yard I moved all the casino items to their own area (far away from recycling). I have no interest in constantly scrolling or otherwise moving between the two area, either on purpose or mistakenly (i.e. when in recycling you accidentally click Go To on Lisa and she's at the casino and so it takes you there and then you have to go back to the recycling).

Yeah, it's 5 free donuts, but I have more important things to do with my time instead of worrying about juggling all the rail yard stuff for several days. And free donuts are trickling in from elsewhere so it's not a huge loss.

I'm focusing on the railyard, then when it's fine I go to the event. Just got Millhouse the Magician today, so it is doable.

My tactic is to complete Act I before the next Rail Yard round starts, so I can focus on that.
(I'm only 11K red chips away from getting Lucius Sweet)

It has slowed me down a lot, I'm just barely at part 5 on the rails and I will be sending more characters there to do the metal jobs as necessary. Doing well with the casino, tier 2 is 4/10 getting close to leveling up the next 2, and I'm trying to knock out this big old tree but I'm having to use 2/3 characters for that.

I've created a Vegas stile strip (ongoing construction) I'd like to do picture but don't know what to use since imgur went to hell.

I just finished the last round for the donuts and I had a start on it before the event started. I had a lot of metal tasks this time and it was slow going with only 4 characters for that. Going to be interesting in the next round, but I'm going to give it a try. I'm still giving priority to the event though.

I started my Railyard tasks this week minutes after the clock ticked over at 2 AM (insomnia). I got lucky with a string of high payout projects and slammed through the first 3 prizes quickly, then started to crash and hit the sack - apparently minutes before the update hit.
This meant I was about 8 hours late starting the event.

When I woke up, found the event had hit and installed (an HOUR on our slow a** satellite internet) I decided I'd finish up my Railyard for the week and then do the Casino stuff. Big mistake.

I started getting almost nothing but projects requiring Metal and Junk. I finally smartened up and started working on the Casino, but I'm way behind where I would normally be on an event - just above the recommended numbers instead of 2 or 3 days ahead. I've been grinding like crazy to catch up.

Fortunately Brandine finished her final pregnancy on my birthday last week - giving me Birthday Spuckler ( I was gonna crow about it in the forum but got hit with paranoia - people would know my birth date!). I also have the invaluable Jesse Grass (now have him working the Redwood).

I'm usually done with the Railyard by Thursday morning or early afternoon. It took me until Friday evening to finish up.
