Buildings usually don't earn event currency.
Characters/costumes occasionally do, but haven't for the past few events. Depends on how you earn them & how early in the event.
Eg. for costumes:
*Monorail (characters helped with earning recycle material)
*Tap Ball (costumes let characters play the game)
*Superheroes (costumes let characters participate in event/earn currency)
If you want extra event currency, you need to pay donuts for premium buildings, etc. That's how EA makes money. :P
In the recent Winter event the X-mas Trees Slightly Irregular, which was not a premium item, paid out event current.
They did, but that's not common is it? I think it was a cool addition. I feel like they won't become standard the next event. Maybe half a year later.
I wouldn't've cared about the X-mas Trees Slightly Irregular if it didn't pay out event currency. I liked the Wooly Bully. Just wish Krusty still had a task there.
It's usually only premium items that earn event currency. Although it does seem like Magician Millhouse should earn currency at the casino considering unrelated skin Tuxedo Kristy does.
I don't have my Krusty wearing his tuxedo skin and he's still working at my casino. I think it's only because he has a job there in the first place.
However, I do think Milhouse should be able to perform his act at Bart's Treehouse casino and earn currency. It would be kind of unsavory for a kid to work at a real casino. :shock:
Not only do most event awarded building not award event currency, they also almost never have any further interaction after said event and so you'll never see it's animation again.
