Crafting/upgrading strategy... slow down :-)

The acts and the crafting are for the most part 2 different elements, with the only connectin factor being that you get your crafting material as a by product of getting chips. The material for crafting chips is not even used in anything else...

Sure - the players club prices can be very helpful... and I do want the fully upgraded tower, although it's only a decoration.

But... wouldn't it make more sense to collect chips at first to get the other prizes, and save the crafting materials for later in the act? I know that some of the player club prizes are actually chips, too... BUT, later on in the act, you'll be able to make much better decisions about how to spend your crafting materials, compared to if you just upgrade or craft anything you can as materials become available. The benefits of crafting/upgrading won't go anywhere before the end of the act... so no need to rush when it comes to crafting materials... just my thoughts

I'm thinking along the same lines - this is why I haven't bothered to craft a single item or use my game tokens. I figure that I'll just make sure I get the main prize track completed, then have a look what I want to do about crafting. Like you said, everything is laid out in front of us and don't look like they are going anywhere.

This strategy is definitely not working for me, although I understand people who stick to it. I like to enjoy events, to participate in each and every entertaining possibility every day, otherwise what is the point of special event?

From my own experiences and from what I've observed from other's complaints, it's not so much about the order of when to do things. We know the crafting and Players Clubcard Prize Track is available during the whole event, moreso that getting the required crafting materials seems so very impossible. I'm on the game at least every five hours (it's actually more like every hour or so) even during the night most nights, yet I've only got enough crafting materials to be halfway upgraded to level 2.

Anyway you look at it, that's absurd.

I've crafted nothing I'm sad to say. I only hope it's because of the amount of gold tokens I've got stored, which is about 400+ which is a long way behind what Brick was suggesting to help level up, which is 1,000 spins!! :shock:

I wouldn't worry about it then, it makes sense if you haven't been using your gold tokens! You should start spending them though it takes quite a while when you have loads saved up, so if you save right until the end you might go mad playing those games all day :P On the plus side, it would probably put you off slot machines for life!

It's just that the way I see it - I already have the two first act 2 prizes - and I am at level 13 in the players club. As we can see now, we can craft the same items as in act 1. So, I have two choices:

I have enough crafting materials to update 5 bars towards level 3 - I could spend all that on getting a much less number of crafting materials, 3000-something chips, 40 tokens and a decorative tower. Then, I can struggle as I did in act 1 to reach the next crafting level.

OR - I can focus on collecting chips, act 2 prizes and work on upgrading for level 3, and THEN go as crazy with the crafting and the players club as I want. It's a long event - the only thing you really need to rush for is the act 2 prizes and getting upgrades in time for act 3.

I'm fine playing the games all day, I'm an expert on grinding at computer games, I've been grinding Pok?mon games for 13 and a half years!! I'm just concerned if it's not enough, what then, it's not enough time to try anything else....

Good post OP. Also I would venture the thought that EA could change the drop rates later on. It's happened a few times. (Especially when people complained on here as we got closer to the end and it didn't look possible to achieve all the craftables.)

Did you buy any premium items? I'm only just about to hit level 7 of the players club and I've been using all my gold coins at moes. I've crafted all level 1 items and just unlocked the ability to craft level 2. I play basically every hour when I'm awake too. Maybe I'm just unlucky with winning the crafting materials.

I bought Chippy (gives you a token a day) and the casino (gives you 110 chips, I think, every 4th hour), and that thing that gives you 20 chips instead of 10 when you click gamblers in neighbour towns.

Seems to me that the way EA has structured these events lately, that there is little room for straying too far from what they seem to want us to do. For example, they have placed limits on what we can craft, when, and how much. That being said, it seems to me that no matter what you choose to craft first, or save, you most likely will end up at the same place in roughly the same amount of time.

I was going to save my materials to go straight for the upgrades, but that seemed boring, so then I started crafting everything I could (even things I might have skipped crafting if it weren't for the club card points you earn). After quickly completing all that I could craft in level 1, I now am finally making some progress towards level 2.

I'm glad I read this particular thread. I realized I should have not crafted anything. It's a good idea to collect items to upgrade your crafting levels. I'm still at level 1 because I crafted all I could at the beginning of the game. I'm going to save up my items to level up my crafting, then I'll be able to craft everything. I still don't have the the players club because I missed getting Lucius on act 1. I was only 1,000 chips short. I'm trying to get doughnuts so I can buy him, he only costs 15 doughnuts now. I just can't let him go. Good luck to all, hoping I finish act 2 in time.

Before I worked out the event in the early days, I did buy a few cheap fountains and the likes. Since then I've concentrated exclusively on trying to upgrade to Level 3 and I still think this is the way to go.

The start of Level 2 opens up the martini glass items and that should make the upgrade from 2 to 3 quicker than the time from 1 to 2. I managed to store up over 130 coins at the end of the first level and using them all up today allowed me to jump halfway through the Level 2 to 3 upgrade.

I'm reckoning I'll be at Level 3 well before Part 3 of the story and can concentrate on spending them and upgrading the Casino Player's Club (which I've only reached Level 5 so far)

In Act 1, I used all my gambling tokens immediately until I'd gotten all the craftables and upgraded to crafting level 2.

Then I hoarded coins for a day or 2 - I had 120 or so when Act 2 hit.

I breezed through the first 2 prizes and also got the Spruce Moose and a few stars/spotlights.

I plan to handle Act 2 the same way: grind until I get all the prizes and craftables. Grind my way to craft level 3 - and then hoard coins again until Act 3.

It worked great for Act 1 - why not do it again?

As long as you play every 4 hours or so and stay on a regular collecting schedule, you should be fine with whatever strategy you want.

Personally, I want something to do in the 3rd Act.

I crafted everything I could, then I started upgrading. I got to level 2 this morning.

You've got to use the tokens to spin the slots and/or roll the dice. Whatever pays out better for you. It also helps if you get a Challenge that pays out crafting materials - big time.
