Ficus Plants

Why bother, tree hugging is one of the easiest to max out so personally I'd just get a few for decorations and look at other options and designs I could make with the other choices.

I was really excited about some new flora but I gotta say the ficus plants are pretty boring.

I just have so many Angel Topiaries taking up so much space through out my town, and this would let me recover some of that space.

I mean, each of these Ficus Plants gives almost as many points using 3 squares less space. Is I have 50 Angels then that I can recover more than 100 spaces for other uses.

Interesting observation. Unlike others, I have some difficulty keeping my Tree-hugging rating up with level updates (not that we ever get level updates!). But given the high Treehugging/space ratio noted by the OP, I may end up crafting some more of these.

    Thanks for the tip!

Our level updates are much fewer and farther in between, so I wouldn't sweat the initial drop in stars at the beginning of the next one.

Well I wish you'd tell me how (without spending donuts) because the highest I've ever gotten my Tree Hugging ratio is 3 stars. It doesn't seem to matter what I add it never goes up.

    Level 59.

Oh, and I'm kinda low on cash from using the XP Collider to snag some donuts for the Yellow Submersible... And I don't have all the big money buildings yet either. I was saving up for them but... XP Collider.

It is the hardest to get to five stars. If I didn't have Akira making bonsais for four months straight, I probably still wouldn't have reached it.

Until now I was using the Angel Topiaries. They only cost $2,000 and they each provide more points than a Bonsai. You just need so many of them.

Really? How about just plant a forest? I've never had a problem with tree hugging. But i also have more trees than pavement.

I should count all my trees. That would be rough. I wish we could access our feature count data.
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!

It seemed like it took a lot of trees to get my treehugging to 5 stars.... I'm definitely going to craft a lot of ficus plants. The exotic trees are pretty "meh." I thought they'd be bigger and less sparse, too.

my thoughts too.... can't say my forest is exactly huge, but got a small one with a few items tucked inside (Suzanne's house / Victorian ufo / isolated campfire for Chalmers to shiver at on his task)... also ringed my Stonecutter's compound with pine trees for a little extra privacy.... didn't seem to take much to get the tree hugger to 5 stars.

Well, yeah that's the only way I've managed it. It just seems that with every update my Tree hugging slips back to 4.5 stars. I have what I thought was a decent sized forest, but I guess not big enough

I tried making a forest with Rainbow trees when they came out. I finally just put 300 of them in storage because they were taking up so much space but only raised my Tree Hugging by 1/2 a star.

So I researched Tree Hugging points vs money spent and it looked like the best bet was Minnow Ponds. I kept getting them free in the weekly Mystery Boxes so I didn't want to spend money buying them. Then they stopped the weekly Mystery Boxes...

Anyway... I crafted as many Exotic Trees and Ficus plants as I could last night and I got my Tree Hugging up to 4 1/2 stars. I just need more Martinis now so I can craft a few more.

To boost your tree-hugging rating you could also try upgrading any trees you have around town. The fourth tree option gives 90 more points than the first (the deciduous trees) so swap 'em out as the pricier trees become available. And the same holds true for the evergreens. Or swap out a fence for a hedge. Every little bit helps.

So I just read over on tstoaddicts that the 1x1 "Ficus Plant" crafting prize gives you 200 tree-hugging points. The same amount as a Bonsai Tree.

Now I may be wrong here, but doesn't that make this the item with the highest tree-hugging-points-per-square value in the game?

It's the second highest. The highest is the Burning Bush, which is 400 points for a 1x1 item.

That said, the Burning Bush is a premium item. The Ficus Plant is not. So like you, I'm stocking up on Ficus and replacing some of my hidden bonsais.

Good to know about the points. I don't think I've paid much attention to them before.
I've been crafting the Ficus plants just because I like the look of them and it's nice to have variety.
My tree hugging has pretty much always been at the full five stars, but I have. a. lot. of. trees. scattered all around
I use trees as a design feature and in hiding things like inconvenient edges and ugly bits and making things look nice and green.

I design a lot with my trees, brushes and plants - not to mention all the other bits that add to tree-hugging. Didn't know this one was such a problem for people - I have never had issue with this.
I have a moderate forest, and lots of decorating to boost this particular thing. Design peeps - I don't know about you - but my town is covered in nice green in real life, and my SF reflects living like that I guess
PM me- I DO need Good Neighboreenos currently
