MoopsDude isn't here, but has anyone being playing with getting the characters wander without roads?
I've found hat they are like failures in that iron stops them. They walk through bushes and wooden fences, but veer around the two chain link fences, and iron railings.
I've been building without roads for a couple months now, making canals instead. I started by hiding a square of road behind a few buildings so they would wander from one to the other. Now I'm using little chucks of bridges as lookout points along my pedestrian trail. It's been fun, and challenging, trying to figure all of this out.

They shouldn't wander in. If you give them a task, and using a decoration on the manner is closest, they will use it.
