I am in the IT field. I work in Data Security and have to deal with a lot of auditing due to the government. It can be a pain but it pays well and I like doing it. I have been in IT for about 10 years now.

    I always wanted to fly
After high school to avoid the draft and Vietnam I joined the US Air Force and became a survival instructor.
After that from the late 70's and 80's I made living from flying and selling Hang Gliders than I became flight instructor in small airplanes that lead to being a charter pilot in central California.
For the last 20 yrs I have been to chief pilot (chauffeur) for a produce company in central California
    Sometimes dreams do come true

Our son attended his first aviation camp last summer ( you have to be 9 to attend) and went up in a 2-seater. He loved it. He's always been interested in engineering but now he wants to work for NASA and build robots (he's always been into robots as well). He's beginning to fine tune his plans. He wants his pilots license as soon as he can get it (14 here). He says that his backup plan is to join the Coast Guard after college as a helicopter pilot.

One way or another, that boy plans on being in the air.

Same here, I also work in purchase for a group in Cologne with food and non- food departments. Mine concentrates on carpets, wooden floors, paint, wallpaper and furniture.

Sounds totally lame, but we're all lunatics here and work is very stressfull!

Architect! My real name is Art Vandalay. Me and m friends are in the middle of a contest to see who can go the longest without pleasuring them selves! My best friend is a stand up comedian. NBC has asked us to do a pilot about his life.

My idea was a show about nothing!!

    Wow, what a diverse bunch!

Currently I'm studying at uni, reading English and politics (combined hons) and in my final year. It was a four year course but well worth it, enjoyed every second, well, apart from the deadlines lol. Eventually I would love to be a lecturer for English literature but I don't want to teach at any primary/secondary school so I have no clue how to accomplish that. I write in my spare time, won a few poetry and short story contests and am currently working on my first book (a childrens book aimed at 13-15 yr olds) which I really enjoy writing. I once worked at Footlocker for 3 months and hated every second of it, which is why I lasted 3 months :). I have vowed to never work again unless its something I'm passionate about and so far so good!

I believe to lecture in Higher Education, it is beneficial but not essential to have a PHD. If this is what you really want to do then you should give consideration to studying for one. However, that's more years as a student which means more years in poverty, more years of debt and even more deadlines. Sadly, entry level jobs in Higher Education are also often very poorly paid. I know all of this because I have a friend who has done this exact thing.

It would appear that perhaps I should watch Seinfeld. I didn't understand Spiff's reference to the show and it was only the reference to masturbation that made me pick up on yours. I did watch an episode once and couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Is it something you need to stick with?

Wow, that sucks. I wouldn't mind studying for my PHD but it would probably be part time but seeing as you said they can be poorly paid, perhaps not...

I should have just followed my mothers footsteps and become a solicitor.

This thread has ruined my life plan. Damn.

Well the first to cave was a friend named Kramer he caved because a woman across the street walked around with the shades up naked. One person in the contest was a woman named Elaine and she caved because John F Kennedy JR. Was in her aerobics class. My friend Jerry is dating a virgin and Elaine running out to apologize knocked over a Chinese food delivery guy.

I happen to be dating the delivery guys sister but I fear it will soon be over if Jerry is too funny. But wait now my girlfriend likes him because she thinks he is dark and disturbed. Yada Yada Yada

Just graduated from tech high school for welding/metal fabrications/sheet metal, and I hated it since I started high school. I wanted to go into auto body work through school, but life had a different outlook for me. The trade (welding) is so dead, since everyone in the baby-boom era stayed in too long, and now no one wants to do it in modern times, and there's no work around here for it in New England. I luckily got into industrial painting, and I love it to death (painting boats, ferries, etc.) I've been laid off since last September trying to find any work, while going to a community college to better myself.

Really nice! I was a lawyer. On the one hand, I always liked what I did; on the other hand, I always wanted to leave my home country. Around mid 2007, I quited 'everything' and travelled to find out 'where' I would like to be. Lived in the UK, Germany, etc. I realized that it was almost impossible to function as a lawyer because I could only deal with conflicts arising from my home country national law (no job for me). Then, a master in European Union law has opened me a door in Sweden. Got into PhD and never left Sweden. I am currently writing my dissertartion on European financial law and international financial instruments. I am also teaching at two universities. No change for me for a while.
