There will be no recount and they've said there will no second referendum. But fingers crossed that Scotland and Northern Ireland can have their own referendums to leave the UK.

Awwww I'm boring you now? Shucks, I'm sorry. Well, lucky for you there's still lots of action packed things to thinks about!

Economic recession, pound plummeting to a new low, Boris Johnson becoming new PM, Scotland and Northern Ireland leaving the UK, London claiming more autonomy, taxes going up, foreigners in Britain with a very uncertain future, UK people living in other EU countries with a very uncertain future, having to negotiate with 27 angry EU-member countries, 2 year deadline, UKIP telling more lies a day than any other political party in a year, very lengthy trade negotiations...

But hey, you got your independence day, right!

    #worthit

Apparently 17,410,742 people are excited and happy for these things!

Hmmm ... well, America did that. I mean, our "referendum" was a little more ... umm ... heated, and even though I mostly slept through my high school history courses, I vaguely recall there were boats and guns and forts and explosions and stuff. Ballots? Not so much.

I bet that over the last two centuries, the UK has realized just what a blessing it was that America went away. So maybe the UK should just let Scotland and Northern Ireland leave after all. :)

We should definitely let them go, just the Leave supporters aren't prepared to let them. They'd rather keep them hostage and take them down with us. It makes no sense - but then nothing that any Leave supporter has ever said about the issue has made any sense.

Yeah and the media should be "rallying around" and get "the nation together", instead of focusing on the negative.

Would the immigrant-hating posters on this thread change their minds if their lives depended on it? Would they decline help because they were "taking our jobs"? This is staff at a UK NHS hospital:

A person last week was talking about the humor/irony of the fact that the leave people were calling it their independence day. He pointed out that England is the reason for most of the "independence days" throughout the world.

They also broke away from a union that was full of the countries they invaded at one point or another :lol:

First the news of Boris Johnson not running for PM and now Nigel Farage is stepping back. This is pretty weird.

To be fair though, Farage usually offers to resign about once a year

Seems like all the leaders who got Britain into this situation are now gone. This way if things go badly, I suppose they can claim it wasn't the Brexit itself, but rather the implementation... Not exactly inspiring leadership...

Not so weird. Farage achieved the only thing he set out to do and that was to convince closet racists that the UK is better off without "foreigners", and they fell for it.

He quit because he has no chance in the real world - it's one thing to convince the stupid 50% of the UK, but he is a laughing stock in the EU. Just look at the way he was mocked by the MEP's last week, he is an absolute joke. Can you imagine him getting good trade deals for the UK when other countries openly laugh at what a clown he is?

I can't understand why he is being championed as a "hero" by the Leave lot. This is a man who once said immigrants with HIV should be banned from entering the UK (seriously). He also has an offshore bank account, yet the Leave bigots think he's "one of them" and not like other politicians.

The scariest part is what kind of evil, rightwing psychopath will replace him in UKIP? And yet the neanderthals will adore him.

The only positive thing to come from Brexit is it's highlighted who is the educated, well-informed and nice people, from the rightwing, hate-filled knuckle-draggers.

It can be explained easily here:

Nigel Farage stays on in the European Parliament.

Why? Well, there's a simple reason. He gets 13.000 a month. What a hypocritical clown. I cannot believe that people believe in this charade.

Perhaps indicative of what has become clear since the vote — that the leave faction didn’t really expect to win and therefore hadn’t formulated any concrete plans on how to proceed should they actually prevail.

UK police say there's been a 42% increase in hate crimes since Brexit. But it was never about racism, not one bit.

I've never felt so ashamed to live here.

Perhaps anyone who voted Leave should be closely monitored as a potential safety risk to the general public.
