In fact i recommend this tab as an option for those seeking a good used device to play on instead of their old phone, if they can't upgrade phone at this time. Just don't go above kk 4.4.4 with it.

What happens if you go above KitKat 4.4.4? I have been thinking about getting a newer tablet because this one doesn't seem to be holding a charge for long. It always needs to be plugged in.

The tablet i mentioned, the Nexus 7 2012, seems to work best with kk 444. I had a hard time rolling it back, after trying lollipop on it and it started crashing and rebooting.

There's something fishy about hardware and corresponding drivers on this older Asus tablet, that they improved on the newer Nexus7, the 2013 model. Something that also makes running flash a little off and a couple other quirks. So it should be cheaper than the newer ones, but still a solid google-ready tablet. Since i use mine only for games like this, i am happy with it. But the 2013 is a better model.

Just to add another data point, I own a 2013 Nexus 7 which runs the latest OS (6.x, I think). It’s not my primary device for playing the game, but I have used it on a number of occasions without significant problems.

Thanks for the replies! Since my tablet (Samsung Galaxy 3, running Kitkat 4.4.2) is only having minor issues with battery drain and I don't want to buy a used tablet, I guess I will wait until Marshmallow 6.x is more widely available (Thanks, Wadebear)! The battery drain is not too bad except when I am playing this game which causes the battery to run down even while plugged in. Maybe I play TSTO too much?

Definitely lost motivation. I find myself passing up premium items because I couldn't create an area that I would personally be pleased with. I didn't used to pass them up.

With all due respect to those who have figured out ways to have a town designed to adapt to EA's limitations, in my case, this town is supposed to be my conception of what I would LIKE my town to look like. For me, getting it just right in order to please myself is the point of designing my town. I'm not interested in giving myself a challenge to make-do with less. I've had more than a half-century of doing that in real life. No thank you.

In MY case, ALL they would need to do is offer larger versions of the items already available. Hedges & fences in double, triple, quadruple, etc. clumps of the same tree, clumps of diverse types of trees, shrubs available in larger proportions (as they already do with flowers)

THAT would cut down on a lot of my items.

I WOULD be amenable to a separate screen. I know that places me in the minority.

IF I could zoom out to see my entire town, then I could see the point of needing it all to be on one large plot of land. But I cannot do that anyway. I don't "see" it as a single view. Since I can only see about 10% of my town at the same time anyway, it doesn't matter to ME where the rest of it "disappeared to".

I already "travel" to another part of town by scrolling (and scrolling) (and scrolling) (and scrolling) to the other end. As I move from one end to the other, I lose visual contact with the portion I'm leaving behind. There's nothing magical, in MY opinion, about swiping across a screen instead of leaving that screen for another.

And FOR GODS SAKE, let us put anything we want into Krustyland. Let KL be our entertainment district.

@Annette: don't skip the good stuff! The day they finally release the restrictions you'll wish you had those items! But i agree with your perspective. The restriction is a real bummer.

@Mystery: my tab also vacuums power even when plugged in. It's because of the frequency of network transmission, particularly UPLOADING. Most of the time mobile users download, which is receiving. But transmitting our actions back to our data source is a power guzzler.

    Tips:

    1. Sit as close to your data source as possible. Either very near your wifi hot spot, or with a clear view of sky for your cell tower. When your device has a poor connection, it boosts its output, and there goes your battery.

    2. Turn down the brightness all the way. Seriously, the backlight uses more power than anything in the device. Your power consumption stats should confirm that. ( What are you doing in the dark? Playing Simpsons, honest!)

    3. Kill any app that auto-updates. It may try to compete for network transmission time while you are playing. Turn off the auto features.

    Happy tapping!

I use the edit function quite a bit (redesign a lot) so this makes a lot of sense.

My wifi router is upstairs and I am usually downstairs. I have a good connection but have noticed that my internet speed drops almost in half when downstairs.

Actually, I do keep the backlight down because if I don't it feels like my eyeballs are going to burn out!

I already have auto updates turned off in the GooglePlay app store settings.

    Happy tapping!

Thanks for the explanations and good advice. You brought up a lot of good points that I hadn't considered. :D

I wish they would just give us a second map with features similar to the main one. Then the item limit can be doubled.

    You've gotta be kidding me.

We've got one of the game's best designers in Izabellatrix explaining the problem with the deco limit, and this isn't a thread with hundreds of responses? C'mon, are there so few people who care anymore about design?

I've been trying for months to figure out a design contest to liven things up on the forum. Guess no one cares anymore.

You are so right about Krustyland - the Fabulous Springfield casino area in itself would be great there, plus Lisa's castle (and all the other castles I have in storage), etc.

I haven't hit the limit yet in any of my towns, but am dreading when I do because that would definitely dampen the motivation for playing.
