Pokemon Go

Prev1345678
I think I saw a news report that some guy caused an accident on an interstate because his phone alerted him to a Pokemon while he was driving.

I already have so little space on my phone I can't add another game, unless I remove one. And all the games I currently have on my phone I play daily. Should have gotten a phone with more space but this one is what Sprint apparently had whatever deal my mom signed up for.
Imagine there's a signature image here.--Lynn McKenzie

My sister was downloading it so she could play with her boys. I sent her the articles about the robbery and dead body and asked if she was sure that she wanted to do play. I thought it sounded like a cool idea to get people out of the house and moving, but I think the execution of it is a little scary.

Played a couple hours this weekend. No dead bodies to report. And no Pokemons worth stealing, as far as I know.

I'm playing. It's fun! Especially love how it's giving me a reason to go for more walks & I've met some great people along the way.

Decided to go for a walk late last night in my quiet neighbor hood. There's a bike trail nearby and man, it was lit. Groups of people everywhere. People geared up. Found three different pokestops where someone had dropped lures. It was on.
Normally you'll see nobody in my part of town at night. So wild.

Tried it last night on my tablet, but I wasn't amused. The signal is terrible and I don't want to walk around my neighborhood like an idiot. I deleted it and probably wont play anymore after hearing some of the news.

Its pretty cool. It encourages you to go outside, walk around and explore the world. Couple things - you cant steal a phone to get a Pokemon. The game uses GPS (it was made by the guys that created google earth). So when there is a Pokemon around you follow a map, like a homing device, and use your phones camera to see him in the real world and throw a pokeball at him. The second is - there is no pop-up alert / notification that a Pokemon is in your area. You have to have the app open. So if a guy got into a car accident, it's because he was trying to watch the "GPS" on the App while driving. I think the hype will die out fast - but my kids actually asked if we could go for a walk together after dinner to play. That's pretty cool.

That is great that it encourages people to actually go "outside". And the creators are probably making tons of money by selling user's location data!

It's great if it gets people out and about :D but also a sad sign that these days it needs a game for people to leave their home :(

True, and I kind of hate that it has to include any mobile electronic device at all, but at least it is getting people to interact.
