Donuts only supplement what you're missing. If all you needed was 1 donut to get things, money would be obsolete in this game.

This is kinda common sense. I don't see why this was a surprise.

Or another way that purchase was all the ingame cash + 1 donut. since you were short on cash

It's kinda like how you can use donuts to make up the difference to get a prize during an event if you are short. Same principal anyways.
