Wait hold up.....we got Stephen Hawking in the game now!

I know this has been discussed a little, but this is pretty crazy, right??
A living, non-fictional, now satirical person in the game.
What do you think changed?

Maybe they just found someone who has a sense of humour and is not all about self-promotion for personal profit?

Ok, maybe that's wishful thinking, but it's possible.

I could be wrong but I think hes the most recurring "as himself" guest.

    Maybe they own him now!

I don't know why they couldn't use a computer voice to voice him. I always wondered if he ever needed to show up when he made appearances on the Simpsons and Futurama.

To use his name, they would need his permission. He's far too recognizable to get away with saying it's not THAT Stephen Hawking. Mind you, he's also made guest appearances on Big Bang Theory, so it's not like he doesn't have a sense of humour.

Stephen Hawking always does his own voice in the shows. I'm sure it is out of respect to him that they wouldn't fake his voice, although it would probably be pretty simple to do so.

i've heard people complain about this event, from the monotony of 3 acts (same structure as practically everything ever released from hollywood) to the future stuff doesn't fit in their town.

i've stored aboutt 90% of the craftables and only the flying saucer-like features have found a temporary home in the woods, like a mini- Close Encounters invasion...

...but i honestly cannot complain about this event. i'm very happy so far. We got several characters that i never expected to show up here.

Mr. Hawking, Mooch Bart, President Lisa, the REAL Skinner, and who knows what's coming in Act 3, plus the potential for Evil Homer?

I MEAN COME ON!? WHAT A SCORE!

I've considered the difficulty of bringing these characters to this game in a relevant way. Of course, some kind of time-traveling event would be necessary for characters from the future! So yeah, there's a bunch of sci-fi junk. I may use it one day. My neighbors have some really great creative new town districts and 'hoods. i'm very happy to visit them and check out their progress. (it helps to have good neighbors, love u guys!)

And the cherry on top was the Frink deal for me. I really try to only spend donuts on sale items, so its a bonus when the sale item du jour is something i've been wanting since i started playing.

what else did we get? a parody of tired and over-used plot line about building a robot girl who turns on its creator, featuring Milhouse? too cute. and the Barts interacting with new dialog you can only get in this game? And I just got President Lisa, so very excited to see how it plays out. I hope its funny.

so far, this has been a great event, and there's still act 3. i'm not expecting any significant plot twists, but i'm still looking forward to it playing out, then designing Frink's new backyard and lab area.

I love this event as well. Love having Stephen Hawking in the game. Just need to stop the Skyfinger stuff in the storyline which is getting old for me.

I love the fact that Stephen Hawking is in the game! He's a brilliant addition to my town, not to mention that his tasks are hilarious!

I agree that he should've been voiced though...maybe they'll ask him when he records the next Simpsons episode he appears in?

This event was a win for me just getting Hawking in the game. I remember looking all over for him years ago when Playmates did their Simpsons figure line and put him in one of the later waves.

I remember reading somewhere that he actually owns the copyright on his voice, so they'd need his permission, and probably his software, as well.

Don't think OP was complaining he was asking what changed in EA's idea of FINALLY adding celebrities[real people] that are "real" into our games. And I for one am happy about it. But now they got him I don't see why they can't add singers and other guests as well now that they've done this. There is no absolutely no excuse anymore.

Other than the fact that they would still need the guests' permission to use their image in the game. I suspect, as I said, that they've just finally found someone with enough of a sense of humour to allow it.

Not complaining at all. Hawking would be the second currently alive person from the show I would want to see.
The first of course being George HW Bush.

Don't forget, we've had Matt Groening in the game for quite awhile now. he's a real, living, non-fictional person!
