Fifty years ago this week “The Happening” topped the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. It was The Supremes’ tenth number-one single in the United States (and last — shortly thereafter the group would be rechristened as Diana Ross and the Supremes).
“Come Fly with Me”, composed by Jimmy Van Heusen, with lyrics by Sammy Cahn, for Frank Sinatra. It was the title track of Sinatra’s 1958 album of the same name.
“Moon River”, composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, performed here by Mancini and his orchestra, from the soundtrack album Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
