Can anyone explain to me how Righteousness works?

Can anyone explain to me how Righteousness works?

I know cleaning graffiti from your town and friends towns raises it, however it keeps dropping from 5 stars down to 1 stars at seemingly random intervals.

I've been tracking it for the last few weeks and cannot find a trend for the drops in stars for righteousness. I've looked at days it drops, days since last drop, hours it drops, amount of times I get hit with graffiti and amount of times I clean graffiti, and despite all this no pattern has emerged.

The only trend I can see is the cleaning giving me more stars, but can't for the life of me figure out what is making it drop down to 1 star again every so often.

Happens to me too. Guess it's just one of those things you have to live with :?

I had this happen recently as well...

The fastest way to raise it for me besides graffiti is to send Snake and Fat Tony to the penitentiary. This seems to keep it up as well - it just takes 24 hours to complete the task

I can usually get it back to 5 stars within 24 hours, 48 at most. Raising it again isn't an issue, I'm just curious as to why it drops like this in the first place and whether anyone else has figured out the reasoning/method because my own attempts to figure it out have failed.

I tend to believe that it's partially character related -- do you send Snake and Fat Tony to the penitentiary a lot?

I think that if you don't continue to clean up graffti frequently, eventually the rating will drop back down to 1 star. This has happened to me many times.

I don't have any evidence of this.

About once a week my righteousness drops. Lately I've just been doing 24 hour tasks, which mean I'm sending Snake and Tony to prison but I've seen no effect.

To improve righteousness the only way I know is to clean graffiti. Each time raises it by half a star. But be prepared for it to drop once a week or so.

Cleaning up graffiti in my own Springfield seems to raise righteousness at about 1/2 star per building. Cleaning up graffiti in other Springfields might be worth more. I've had odd, inconsistent results trying to track that. Graffiting buildings in other Springfields doesn't seem to change righteousness -- only helps the next person who comes along and cleans it up.

Mayor Quimby doing a 24 hr. embezzle task plunged righteousness. I'm pretty sure that writing the book on ethics also lowers righteousness. The only safe task for him to do may be to give a speech.

Sending Chief Wiggum on patrol raised righteousness. I'm not sure, but I think that having him taking bribes lowers righteousness.

Having Snake in jail I'm fairly certain raises righteousness and having him rob various businesses lowers righteousness.

I do mostly 4 hour tasks, so that has Wiggum/Quimby collecting bribes and Snake holding up one of the shops. I still stay at 5 stars for about a week (even if I don't visit neighbors for a few days) without any drop, then randomly plunge to 1 star.

It takes a few hours to get back to 5 if you have enough neighbors vandalizing you and to visit and clean up. You only need about 8 clean-ups to get from 1 to 5, so that shouldn't take days.

Just clean the graffiti in your friends town - from time to time graffiti their building too, but remember, if you graffiti one building you have to clean at least 2!

Weekdays I follow the same routine:
    * 8 hour tasks for all toons at about 6:30am after waking up & showering.
    * 4 hour tasks for all toons at about 2:30pm to get the last few hours of work and also the trip home.
    * 1 hour tasks for all toons from 6:30pm until I go to bed.
    * 8 hour tasks for all toons just before bed.

Weekends it varies depending on what I'm doing but I generally try to put them all on the shortest task I can without having them wait for too long after completion for me to click on them.

With this routine, you'd think I'd see the same thing happening daily with my righteousness if it was based on the type of task given to characters, but the days it drops from 5 stars to 1 star can be random. Sometimes three times a week, sometimes over a week without dropping. This also rules out it being time based.

I've been at 5 stars, looked away from the game for less than 15 minutes, come back & cleaned graffiti, looked back at it 5 minutes later and found it at 1 star.

    First you get smug.
    Then develop a superior attitude.
Walk around letting people you are better than them. Hope this helps.

Or did you mean in the game? Beats me. I spray paint neighbors public buildings; send Quimby, Wiggum, Snake and Burns to commit crimes, and Flandrs to prison. Have a 5 star rating.

I was really hoping to stumble across someone on these forums who might know, but it's now not looking so hopeful. :/

Well played indeed, Bad Example... but my favorite is the sir/ma'am comment.

My bet is that it is the only rating that CAN be random, so it is.

All the others are connected to buildings or decor:
    Indolence is tied to houses
    Consumerism to shops
    Tree-hugging to Trees bushes, etc
    Vanity to decor
    Obiedience to public buildings
    Gluttony to restaurants
    Socialism to friends

Righteousness, keep crime off the streets? Where do I buy that?

The other stars will drop when you gain more land, or level up and have more items to buy. But Righteousness, well there is no rhyme or reason to that one. So the game just drops it like a lead balloon. It seems to go up in a day or two if you send all your baddies away for 24hrs at a time and clean up graffiti.

I think mine just went up with this post. Score!
