Great article, thanks for sharing, and making me feel nice and old as I remember that airing. Really funny about George Takei.

I hope they add the Monorail with Lyle Lanley
I would think just a matter of time as it is quite a historic one. But it will be interesting to see how much monorail we will get and the designs to go behind that. Like would we get to buy track say for $1,000 per unit or something like that, making as big or small as we want.
Et tu Peru.
Yeah, better than what I said, it would keep the game more interesting. Perhaps once we have enough track, we could also buy the train that could be an animated decoration.
OP it would be great if you could edit your initial post so that we could all pool our ideas here as we did with Whacking Day or Mr Plow.
I'd also like to see signs for the edge of town, leading to Ogdenville and North Haverbrook.
And maybe a Leonard Nimoy premium character?
Ah yes, those would be nice additions.
I hope thats okay
I would Love to see a story line added to the game for the monorail. The train could be bought through a set of storyline quests and The train is available for purchasing once completed, and adding to the idea's mentioned above the tracks could be listed along the roads, pavement and water, as an unlock able item (much like the weather item or the fountain) and the regular track could cost money per square used. In decorations there could be different types of tracks like stations, or shelters for stops along your Springfield and these different or 'specialty tracks' would become available after you have unlocked the monorail and have had it running doing quests.
Seeing how each Springfield is different and with such a unique system the monorail can be, the quests could be different, involving a little more than just waiting around for something to happen.
One such example i can think of is Grandpa has to go for his weekly check up at the hospital Please construct a monorail from the retirement castle to the hospital.
And this could help us for a while to not be so bored it would allow us to do something a little different and I think it would be a great addition.
If EA added a monorail feature, almost everyone would probably have to revamp their Springfields to accommodate the design of a monorail. This is bad for those who love their Springfield as it is, but it would keep the rest of us pretty busy figuring out how we could incorporate this design into our towns yet still have it all look good.
Of course, in the show, the monorail broke immediately. So one of the many tasks might be to fix it - frequently.
Stopping the monorail using a big doughnut as an anchor might be too much for this game, though.
