I might be sitting this one out
I really didn't have much interest in building a western section of my town - but they offered a wide selection of really well designed buildings, decorations, and new content; so I was pretty happy with how it turned out.
I really didn't have much interest in building a future Springfield in my town - but they again offered a wide selection of really well designed buildings, decorations, and new content; so I was surprisingly happy with how well my future Springfield turned out (though that was one of the harder ones to put together).
I have zero interest in building a pile of rocks section of my town - and so far it looks like I'll not be getting a decent selection of new decorations and content to do it with...if I even had room to create a little forest area...which I don't since they didn't give us any new land this time around.
Crafting is usually a hellish, annoying nightmare to deal with and (even with the bonus percentage on a few items), I'm seeing absolutely nothing worth going through that difficulty for. It's a hodge podge of bland new items with a mix of older items to flesh it out.
So, not throwing a fit, not angry, not rage quitting - just stating my 2 cents worth of opinion. Act 3 (if there is one) looks like it has the potential to be interesting - but over all it really feels like the phoned it in on this one. Grinding is way too much of a chore to be bothered with for such *meh* content.
Happy holidays all, spend some time with your family. It might turn out they're nice people

this event is not any different than any other events, i think that is the issue for some of the long term players, and it is manifesting as a multitude of complaints we would not have seen in the few couple of years of the game.
Cool story bro, except I'm not one of the long time players. But how absolutely pretentious of you to psycho analyse what's wrong with them for not liking something in a new event. You might want to leave that to the pros.
Since you didn't seem to catch the gist of my statement, let me reiterate - while I haven't cared much for the themes of past events - I was very much happy with and impressed by the quality of the new content. This is *meh*, rehashed, mini-event at best new content (incidentally, I've also supported and argued for EA during every mini-event that *meh*, rehashed, mini-event content doesn't really need to be exciting because it's not a major event and should just be enjoyed as the easy, time killer that they are).
Someone who's been playing for a year and a half, like myself, can recognize phoned in content without being jaded - just like the old time players can absolutely judge phoned in content and even the new players (who are also complaining) can be critical about the phoned in content without being a donut farmer "b*tching about every little thing."
So, sorry, it is different than any other event. Yes, there will always be someone complaining about an event no matter what - even some of the best events of the past year (the Casino, Superheroes, Halloween) have had a handful of people who found something worth complaining about. But I have never seen an event where the negative comments have far outweighed the positive comments like they presently do with this one.
If you think you can just sweep that under the rug as "it's them, not the game," good luck with that.
hopefully grinding out an essay to complain about a game you find to be a grind was a more worthwhile use of your time than playing the game or finding something else to do than worry about the game just because you do not like a particular content update
I've felt like some things have been phoned in, but those were mostly minor events.
So far I like this event. I don't know why everyone judges it so early. Can't even make it 24 hours before writing it off. If you hate it this much, then break time. Come back for act 3.
But that's life. The differences is the spice of the world and it makes the world go round.
Only one thing which appears to be lacking in the current threads is having respect for others whatever they like or dislike. I love my wife even though she hates football, and she loves me even though I hate shopping.
Opinion is totally subject to change when LP rolls out a full list of what to expect - but at this point both the main prize track as well as the crafting really feels way more mini-eventy than like a major event. I'm usually completely satisfied with the mini-events even if it's kind of crap loot because they're so low key and easy time killers. Main events tend to be kind of contrived and a bit of a pain in the **** grind, so I expect better prizes. This is the first time (even with events that I really didn't like the theme that much) since I've started playing that I looked at the prize track and don't see anything that even begins to be worth the hassle of the grind.
I'm hoping for a strong third act (and, in my opinion, last years Maggie third act blew the first two away) and some surprise purchases, but at this point I stand by my first impression - it feels like a handful of phoned in new items mostly fleshed out with previously released items that weren't that exciting to begin with.
At any rate, thanks for a more level-headed and positive response. Don't confuse disappointment with hate though. I actually have a lot of respect for the creative team behind the game and feel they normally knock out a product that's well worth my real life money. Again, even when I don't like the theme, I'm usually impressed with what they're offering us and find a number of things that I'm glad to add to my growing town - this one just really feels **** so far.
I've been playing about a year and a half and consider myself a long term player - I have all the land, all the items I want out of the shop and could have all the levels (but chose not to do the mega-quick level-ups that we got).
For some of us the challenge with each event is 1) the strategy to achieve the prizes and 2) incorporating new elements of design into our towns. For some it is "give me stuff that I want now and in the way I want it", and you're right that's nothing to do with length of time people have been playing.
My personal gripe with the game is the lack of space to put stuff, but I'm not going to give up on for that. Some events I like more than others, some I have stored nearly everything and we have had some real "meh" stuff in the past, but people are being particularly petulant about this one for some reason.
why come here wasting so much time typing essays about how you hate the game, go do something else with your time since this game is such a waste to you. if you hate this event so much then why so much interest to come chat on a forum about it? we get it, you dont like this event. nobody here really cares if you play it or not. no need to keep typing essays repeating the same thing over and over to everybody here about why you are buttthurt about an event you have not even played.
Working on your comprehension before responding and stop putting words I didn't say into my mouth.
Edit - oh, I get it now. The troll who put up complaint threads all through Halloween and will argue the opposing viewpoint just for argument's sake also became (coincidentally, I'm sure) active right about the time notDepressed finally earned his ban. Yeah, I'm done wasting my time with this one.
It's a bad update. It's bland and the "story" is weak. It's not festive and the decorations are beige, grey and sad looking. I don't give a **** about what people think they "deserve" out of a Christmas update, I'm just saying that from a design perspective this is really miserable.
oh the irony lol
please take a break, you are clearly drifting into madness regarding this game and forum lol. i am proud of you for taking my advice on not typing an essay response to every post
