How to be a good Valentines Neighbor?

Prev1
and now in someone's town I saw a card over the Simpsons' house, but didn't see when when I waited for it to reload in someone else's town. Are the cards possibly related to the quests the people who belong to the buildings are on?

From what I understand. You are sending the V-Card to the person inside the building and that person can only receive one V-Card at a time. So to be a good neighbor, you should collect you own V-Cards as often as possible. That way you neighbors have V-Cards to click on when they come to visit your town.

May I ask a quick question....I have received hearts from friends as their name comes up when you hit your card, but I am still not able to access their towns? I know they have the update because they have gifted me with a card and heart, any ideas??

    Yes!

I am SHOCKED how many forum regulars and level 25/26 neighbors with nice towns and premium content don't play often enough for me to tap cards in their towns! I collected before bed and as soon as I woke up... still had a few characters without a valentine so my neighbors were able to tap cards in my town all night.

This morning I had a character receive two valentine's cards.

So I'm not sure how that works.

    Here's how it works:

    When visiting neighbors' Springfields -
    - the option to "give" a VCard will only appear over characters who are CURRENTLY doing tasks. If the character is doing a task inside a building, then the vCard will appear over that building, but the building itself has nothing to do with vcards.
    - when GIVING vcards, you will get money and XP every time, just like when you "tap" on a non-holiday springfield building, however, whether or not you receive hearts is random.

When others visit YOUR Springfield -
    - only characters that are CURRENTLY doing tasks at the time of their visit will give them (the visitor) the option to "give" you a vCard.
    - when you have received a vCard, it will always give you a heart (but no money or XP). When you tap the heart to pick it up, it will even tell you who gave it to you.

    BOTTOM LINE:

In order to be a "good" neighbor, try to consistently have your characters on tasks.

I have not had a chance to test this next one out yet, but I've heard from others, (as well as it makes sense, considering received vcards will tell you who gave them to you) that the same character cannot be given a vCard twice, even if they are currently tasking, unless the town owner "receives" it by tapping on it. Therefore, another way to be a "good" neighbor would be to check your town often and tap those received hearts to allow others to have more options. This is especially important for those who either have a large number of neighbors actively visiting their Springfields, and for those of you who may just be starting out in the game and don't have a lot of characters to choose from yet.

    Hope this helps!

Every time that has happened to me it was actually a different character nearby (i.e. inside the building that the visible character was in front of) or there was actually someone currently inside my town who tapped right after I collected the first card. YMMV.

Those people have not been "Fixed" by origins yet. As soon as origins "Fixes" their accounts you will be able to access their towns.

Or two different neighbors have visited your town at the exact time and clicked on the same person before leaving.

Something else to consider (please read my previous post), is that if you are visiting your neighbors first thing in the morning expecting to give vcards, chances are, those characters have finished overnight tasks and have not been put on new tasks yet. Therefore they won't be available to give vcards to.

If you re currently in the habit of checking your T.O. First thing in the morning, try switching it to afternoon or evening to increase the chances of your neighbors' characters being on tasks, and thus, available to receive your vcards.

Then I'm the best neighbor of them all as I have everyone doing something all the time. That's right people who are my neighbors you can thank me for wanting a constantly active town for the ability to send my guys lots and lots of Valentines.

I've seen cards disappear before I could tap them in a neighbor's town, and have also seen them regenerate while I was in the town (presumably when the neighbor collected).

I've been busy tapping V cards in my neighbours towns all day (am in the UK), but I have not received a single one back. :-(

Is this a bug or just that my neighbours are all still asleep and not playing?

This presumes everyone is in the same timezone, which is patently not the case. So unless you want to stay up all night tapping (and most of us have done nearly that sometimes!) then it's hard to say when your neighbors will visit and/or when they'll be setting characters to tasks.

To be fair to other players I will have to cleanse my friends list. Anyone who has not logged in over a week , gone.
That way I can help players who want to get valentine cards

Half my list isnt updated yet. And I have max friends

I'm still not getting when valentines cards will be available. I have been in neighbors towns where all their characters were in the process of doing tasks (you can tell because when a character is done with their task they wander around the town regardless of whether the owner of the town has been back as evidenced when my husbands town has characters who have completed their tasks). There have been a lot of towns I have visited numerous times where there are no valentines available. I want to ensure this doesn't happen when friends visit my town.

When an active character's building's "Valentine Card" is tapped, it goes away until the visited user collects the Valentine on their end. Only then will the "Valentine Card" be available to the next visitor.

To be a good neighbor, collect Valentine's from your characters ASAP. This will allow the next friend that visits to have more opportunities to tap Valentine's Cards in your city.

Oswas618 - I'm in the same boat as you. Have the update. Sending valentine's like crazy. Haven't received any yet. I've been reading around and it seems that even some people who have the update can't be visited by their friends. It incorrectly still claims they aren't updated. Does anyone know if this is true? Anyway, my hunch is we are the unfortunate ones who have the update but still can't be visited. I'll add you and we can check this.

Good neighbor - collect valentine's often. Character tasks are irrelevant (I have collected valentines from characters doing tasks, not doing tasks, and completed but not collected tasks).

Yup, it seems the only consistent thing is people need to get in and collect their tasks. Players with more characters and who play often are going to be the most valuable friends to have in this update!
