I hate these. I mostly get phishing emails from banks. I know these are scams straight away because I haven't had one from my own bank account. I've had loads from other banks.
Just got my first PayPal one today. These people are can be convincing.
If you are unsure forward your suspected email to your bank or any other business via their fraud department. Google their fraud email address. If not get in touch with them and they will give you it.
One way of checking if it's fake is see how it's addressed to you in the email. These emails 9 times out of 10 don't put your name they put dear customer or dead member. Official emails from banks and other companies do add your name plus other security bits in the email. If still unsure find a official email if you've been sent one by your bank and examine it through. Especially the bottom. It will have the companies address in full, their registered financial business number.
Be aware and take care.

  • Very good info. As one who isnt very computer literate I appreciate info like this. Thanks again!
I do not accept unsolicited friend requests! PM me and say hi first.
  • No problem.
  • I keep getting them for viagra.... not sure if they'd work for me lol :p
  • Hahahaha:lol:
  • As far as I’m concerned, e-mail spam/phishing is a low-level annoyance. Spam filters trap almost all of it. (Although I got one just the other day that purported to be from Amazon that was extremely well crafted without all the usual misspellings and non sequiturs.)

What really bugs me is phone spam — either actual phone calls or text messages. For a while I was getting about two or three of these phone calls a day. It’s reached the point where I won’t answer the phone unless the phone number is one already in my contact list.
  • I had them daily but not had a phone call in ages. That being said I probably will get them again soon.
  • I have an alternate email I use to sign-up or register for stuff, so I only get 1-2 emails every month in my main email. No spam or phishing scams either.
