First off, feel free to post topics here of any topic you wish. While I don't think it was the smartest move to call out LPN, whose contributions and threads are appreciated by many here (myself included,) it is your call to make. Provided it has not broken any rules (attacking other members) you can post anything you wish. The Mods will ultimately decide what is appropriate or not based on forum rules.

Having said that I disagree with your point that LPN is breaking any rules. You are correct that he posted the St Patrick's day walkthrough but this can only be spoiled if you read the thread. I myself didn't, so there was no spoiler in my opinion. Likewise the title simply says walkthrough so, again, contains no spoilers.

The best advice has already been given ie:
    • Don't read the thread
    • Discuss your concerns with the mods as these kind of actions tend not to go down well and usually result in long drawn out arguments which benefit nobody.

The only thing I would add is to be careful not to upset other forum members (calling people sheep because they don't agree with you.) It was you who created this thread to voice your opinion. If others disagree with your point of view so be it. You have to deal with whatever reaction comes so choose your words wisely.

    Well said bro :)
We'll chew this planet up and spit it out!
  • LPN's posts are gold to me. Don't like them? Don't read them. Problem solved.

    This!

Mentioning something in a headline that hasn't come up yet, like Hellfish, is a spoiler and maybe shouldn't be in a headline. Maybe it should say, SPOILER about what's upcoming. Then a person can make a choice. I personally love spoilers and info on what's upcoming, but if it bothers some, it should be considered.

  • Thank you for the advice Jonalinn. Perhaps I should have contacted a moderator initially. But, as was pointed out, it is the moderators who approve the unreleased content. And yes, unreleased content was posted. For example, the thread, St. Patrick's Day 2017: premium walkthrough, contains the entire dialogue. That does fall under 'detailed game dialogue', which is against the rules that several people, yourself included, have copied and pasted into your replies.

Thanks! I didn't realize the St. Patty's day dialogue was up. And I wouldn't come here nearly as much if it wasn't for LPN.
  • This forum has a lot of very thoughtful people who post regularly. I, for one, depend on all of you, and LPN's post are always helpful. When someone chooses words carelessly, and is rude, it really stands out because it is so rare. You guys are gems for keeping it civil.
  • Just dont read his post if you dont like it. LPN update thread is my favorite part of this forum. Plus i like knowing whats coming so i can save enough donuts for it

It's pretty easy: always save donuts; there's always something coming, and usually on schedule.

    Wow.. Let's see,
    • Call out LPN as the "voice of the community."
    • Calls that same community "Sheep" when they do not agree
    • Goes on to blame the Moderators (Who do a really great job)

ARE YOU SERIOUS? You're really on a roll here. :D

    Spot on @ghallmark814

  • Wow. I think that's a little over the top. I appreciate LPN's posts and specifically come here for this type of information.

  • So we know about the St Pattys Day event the day before St Pattys day! Its not even the biggest secret in the game that it was coming. You know there will be a Halloween event later this year. Oops sorry didnt mean to spoil that for you too. Now you can start a post about me if you like.

It's PaDDy's day. Short for Padrigh. PaTTy is the shortened form of Patricia. Sorry about this but I got my donkey chewed off by too many of my Irish friends back in Chicago.
  • LPN's contributions to this forum is a major reason I visit and appreciate all the work he does to help us. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that LPN and our Mods are volunteering there time and dont get $ paid $ for the countless hours they dedicate to this forum to help everyone who visits. Maybe some of us may take their work for granted? I believe I shouldn't be overly critical of how things are run, but that doesn't mean our forum cannot continue to improve either.

Although I do not care about reading spoilers, and would expect them if I visited a forum regarding discussing the game, I can see why some visitors wouldn't want to see this information.

My thought would be, similar to how the weekly rail yard thread was "solved", by LPN creating a single announcement thread with possible spoilers.

Fixed. Its almost universally St. Pattys day anywhere you see it though, not that it makes it correct. Probably thinking St. Patrick shortened is Patty. I know thats what I did
I do not accept unsolicited friend requests! PM me and say hi first.

I can tell you as an Irishman that it is not known as Patty's day anywhere where an Irish person is in earshot :) . I've only ever heard Americans (and the odd Canadian) refer too it by that.

Paddy=Patrick (hence Irish people are known worldwide as Paddys) and Patty=Patricia as Spyder pointed out.

He and his oft punished donkey are testament to that. Let his story stand as a cautionary tale to you all. We're watching. We're listening. We will find you!

LPN's informational threads are a gift to the forum. the forum is well known as a medium for discussing the game, including advance information. do not visit a site which may contain previews if you don't appreciate them. but don't insult a forum contributor who provides an appreciated service to others.

this topic has been sufficiently discussed. please lock and let's move on.

All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
  • Love this game. Great Mods. LPN is the "go-to" poster-person for an event. Fantastic forums. I've met some great people here! Wouldn't change anything...well, except for...

Hi, on the old forum it was done pretty much that way with all the information about everything in the event in one place, unfortunately this new forum has a limit on the amount of text you can put in each post so he has no choice but to make multiple posts each covering a specific part then he usually makes a single post with a list of links to each thread that tends to get stickied to the top of the forum.

LPN is brilliant and his hard work and posts appreciated by 99.99% of the community, me included.

The OP is obviously part of the 0.01% who disagree yet feel compelled to open his posts despite the fact they know they will be outraged by doing so. There's no helping some people.

OP, you've had your say, and the vast majority think you're wrong. Accept it and move on.

    Ad-mods, please lock this thread.
My choice for all my Tapped Out news and troll-free friendly chat is the EA officially approved Tapped Out UK :)
  • So many of you are twisting this all around... at no point did I say that LPN was not appreciated or important or anything like that. In fact, I did say that I know how valuable he is. I, myself, have used his posts for help many many times, and will continue to do so in the future.
I just don't think anyone (especially him because he should know better) should be allowed to put up game info on the game's official forum before it goes live in the game. He has other non-EA sites where is free to do that if he wants. And yes, I know, 'well then just don't look at it' is a great solution. And I don't look at such threads labeled with 'spoiler' but it is unavoidable when it gets included in the thread title.
This is a persistent problem here and needs to be addressed and rectified in some way. I'm not the first person to feel this way, nor the first person to mention the problem. There have been complaints of this in the past, yet it continues.

There's my piece on the matter. Go ahead and lock now.
