Would it be better to spend donuts on mystery boxes, or on Jet engines, when there's a rebate, to increase your multiplier?

Mystery boxes always have paid out a better ratio of 8 donuts per 1%, jet bikes are 10 or 15 to 1%, depending on the price. So the cost per % isnt too far off either way.

    Oh really?

I never knew that the ratio was so low for mystery boxes, never seemed to be that good for me :open_mouth:

Has anyone confirmed the pattern for them yet?

I've stopped trying to add to it though it but when it's high you genuinely can't help it.

Yeah when you mentioned you wanted to take it slow in a previous post , I know that wouldn't happen. Congratulations for new milestone!

There are possibly 3 patterns - I have had 2 different ones on 2 of my towns, one I posted about in this thread:
    https://forums.ea.com/en/discussion/81267/not-so-mystery-boxes

    LL-bomb shelter-I&S-KK-onda-news van-pond-10D
    LL-bomb shelter-I&S-KK-onda-news van-pond-10D
The second pattern was on my newest town, read each line down, I spaced the results out in this way to see the pattern more clearly:

  • Finally got me ne over 300. I've never concentrated too much on it until this event. I got so far ahead, the bo-nuts came early, and I didn't want the hip-hop character, that I rolled all my XP bo-nuts into all the mystery boxes I could until I got up to 300%. Now I'm back to saving for Halloween.

Congrats! (Cue the music from the Jeffersons, "Movin' on up!")

I find that buying a whole lot at once is better than just a few - I've read that the pattern remains the same regardless, not sure if that's true - but it just feels better to me when I'm buying multiples as I can pick the pattern and know exactly what return I'm getting.
  • So, for those of us approaching the decorations limit, mystery boxes might add quicker to that limit than if you were to just buy jet bikes? Or about the same?

@Brooklynight and for anyone who does KEM farming, you may want to read the 3rd post in the tips thread (it is part of the stickied thread at the top of the page)
    https://forums.ea.com/en/the-simpsons-tapped-out/discussion/90074/tips-for-new-players/p1
This is a chart from that thread:

For picking boxes, use the KEM simulator by @alapalme linked in my signature.

So would it be better economically to build 24 KEM and then a lot of cobblestone walls while you wait the four hour build time?

Generally speaking, KEMs are the most efficient way to go. The only downside is the wait time/time and effort to build.

That's what I thought too but the chart almost looks like walls are better after the 24th KEM

MBs will give you I&S billboards @ 1%, so JBs would be the way to go if item limit is more of a concern than the few donuts extra.
  • I finally hit 1000.30% yesterday!
  • Almost at 900 now, all thanks to you guys with all those very helpful threads.

My last round of Mystery Boxes must have been one of my best. 168 Donuts invested for a return of 27%.
  • I've been spending donuts on MBs as soon as I get them and am now at 723.35%!!!

I want to get the Garbage Truck, Jazzy Goodtimes, LT Smash, Little Lady Justice and Blue Funzo from my vault before investing in anymore MBs. It looks like I'm at a plateau except for the bump from GT and LLJ.

    Yep! B)

Okay, here's my chart based on purchasing and tracking the results from many thousands of mystery boxes... there are 8 different patterns of prizes (I've assigned them letters A to H) which follow a fixed order to make two sequences (blue and red) as listed below the chart. The game repeats each sequence 8 times then alternates to the other sequence (the switchover between them actually happens mid-sequence, so please be prepared for a minor change during each 8th iteration)! Enjoy!

  • Just reached 2600%. Going up very quick now.
Level 939 - play almost every hour.
  • Many thanks for the chart @girl22721. Must be how you tracked your 8000%. :p
  • Eight days ago I had 600% and today I just made it to 700%. I'll probably slow down on MBs to build up my reserve in anticipation of new items. I was getting a bit bored of the game after playing for five years, but this adds another element of fun to the game.

I got Little Lady so I'm at 726.10%.

Saving donuts to buy stuff is driving me batty.

I went up 62% in 10 days and want to blow my donuts on MBs. I decided against getting Jazzy Goodtimes since it interferes with She-She Lounge premium jobs. I'll get LT in the morning and should have the garbage truck and Funzo by bed time tomorrow. Then, back to the grind!

    Edit:

    UPDATE!

It would appear that after doing some quests at Jazzy Goodtimes, She-She goes back to the top spot for 4-hour jobs.
