as long as there are three things to tap when I visit, they can stick around in my neighbor list... I find my outskirts are becoming more haphazard as events come quicker and I don't have time to redesign, but there's only so much one can do....
If I find one of my neighbors towns not to my liking, usually a flaming bag of dog poo on their porch gets my point across. If that doesnt work may I suggest a brick through their window.

Be a part of another EA endorsed TSTO fan site at www.tapped-out.co.uk
They might be stuck under bags of kitty litter and old newspapers, and for some reason the only way to alert others to their predicament is through messy TSTO towns.
It is possible for someone to live like this but have a neat beautiful town. A form of escape from reality playing the game
Personally, I think the OP has a point. I've run across a few towns where 2/3 of the land is wide open - no buildings, no roads, no nuttin'............and all of the structures are tightly jammed together in one corner with no separation OR they are in blocks of 50 items of the same type way out in an open space. Then there are those like Spritals148 that always has a really cool visual surprise newly built in his/her town. That's what keeps me coming back. Everyone has a different perspective in how their TSTO layout should look. Respect it. After all, it's just a game!

That was you!?! I guess I own the neighbor boys an apology.
While each of us has their own particular playing style, I personally prefer to visit a town that at least looks like a town in some fashion.. a few streets, some organized/designed areas, etc. as it is easier on my eyes (I totally can't do those "Where's Waldo" books lol ). I've had eye surgery so it's just easier to focus on towns that are a bit more systematic and ordered.
You got a great looking town~168sean... Checked out your town, WOW! ~daved

My town is untidy but I can't afford to buy the land to extend so instead I've bought a lot of buildings with characters crammed them all together just to earn money but now I'm on level 47 and I'm starting to earn more money to buy the land so at the moment I've stopped buying buildings and starting to create my town to make it really nice, tbh I hate the look of very untidy towns
Any mention from tsto of offering us different layouts to choose from.
Similar to clash of clan.
Layout of tidy town, or collection town depending our playing style for that day
Well, guess that shows what kind of player you both must be then.... I don't see the point really!
The point does not matter...it is NOT your town, so whatever the point is, it is not yours to make. While I do understand the sentiment of those who look down their noses at those who have messy towns, I do not see the point in complaining about it. If you do not like seeing the town, delete the friend and move on. Different folks have different goals in this game (donuts, multipliers, aesthetics, house farming, etc...), so it seems that if you have a problem with how someone else is playing, its YOUR problem, not theirs.

Just play however you want, don't impede your progress to make it look good at this stage
While I believe every person should be allowed to play TSTO in their own particular style, I do believe the basic premise of the game is to reconstruct a town version of Springfield using the characters, buildings, decorations etc. that EA releases to us. As players are individuals, each town would have it's own particular style (buildings grouped by type, size, event, etc.) but, overall, the idea is to reconstruct the town that Homer inadvertently blows up at the beginning of the game.
But whether people do this or not is up to them. It's really just a matter of personal preference.

My B town is a functional town. It's designed to reduce collect time. All 1hrs buildings are near together. All 2hrs, 3hrs, etc. it does not look tidy. But it's not a mess.
That sounds pleasant to use.
@Jonalinn How to explain getting buildings located in foreign countries? How about a theory that there were multiple nuclear explosions done by foreign Homer doppelgangers. Maybe they could make that the final event.
When I encounter an untidy town, my first reaction is to summon my local authorities. In my area, this will only work a few times, as some of them won't consider this a real emergency. After that option has been exhausted, I normally contact EA's Helpline and after hours of criticizing them to an EA agent, I'll photograph their town, and post the pics all over the internet, shaming these untidy people into oblivion.
Or
I remember it's just a game and I move on.
Ok this made me laugh- thanks @barryriddl474 @bgwilson76 everyone has their own goals in the game- decorating is obviously not theirs.
Personally I don't mind, I have several friends like that but I see they are still going up in levels so I'm gonna guess they are still having fun with it. I even have one neighbour with LOTS of open land, no roads and things strewn into several "piles" Funny bit it the piles themselves, still get moved around so I know the player is doing something but for the life of me I can't tell you what! I also have neighbours that are always redesigning and futzing with their towns. I KNOW I am, can't leave it alone. Sadly I just hit 8600 yesterday afraid to try another 3D I have in mind, I might have to start letting go of my bridges @surefirein93 Her and thank you!! You still have the most rockin monorail but I'm working on it. You're one of my inspirations

I did the rock one when I caught my boyfriend cheating with a friend (15) Did you know that is actually frowned upon??!!!!! I was shocked!
I would say I prefer tidy towns but I don't generally delete unless I never get visits during events or buildings aren't cleared somewhat regularly during events. During the down time I give all neighbors a pass on making visits.
