personally i like to socialise after work, go away for the weekend, etc...so i am unable to play the game often enough to get enough protein strings
they shouldn't make these events so discriminatory to people who aren't losers
Not true at all.
I played twice a day -- in the morning before work, and in the evening after dinner -- and I got all the prizes without spending a single donut. I don't have an extra Simpson town and I only have 32 friends that I visit. It's completely do-able.
I might add that my wife and I went away last weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and we entertained guests the previous weekend, and entertain students (we're college professors) often in the evenings, so I do have a life.
Not sure what you're whinging about.
Thats the part that confuses me the most. I usually get on at least 3 times a day to squish the little buggers. Yet i still fall short and people who play less than me get it with no problem.
And to all the people * thats not what this thread was about. Ive enjoyed the update quite a bit. Just wanted to see if i was the only one in this boat.
I dont know if theres many other in the same boat as me. I came close to getting the last prizes but didnt get a single one. Didnt even get close to being able to craft them either. Was really dissapointed about the u.b.o as i wanted and tryed pretty damn hard to get it. Yet still fell short with 13500 strings.
This game is like football, corrupted. the team/person who pays the most wins the league/finishes events. if you don't pay you will never get out of the bottom half of the table.
It's called pay to win, when they make it near impossible to win without paying.
1) That's not even remotely true that it's near impossible to get all the prizes without paying
2) Of course you have to play. Are you really complaining that you can't get everything without playing?
Yes I am, what other games do you play that you have to pay more money to finish the game ? Maybe I'm getting on a bit but you paid money for a game outright then it never cost anything to complete a game but time, now we live in a world of do you want to get ahead in this game pay money and we'll basically give you a cheat code.
I played the event nearly every 4 hours on two different accounts, a premium account and a freemium account.
I just finished the event yesterday by spending donut's on the pass and have all the kids speeded up the start.
I put the same amount of time in on the freemium account didn't get any of the 2nd prizes, then them prizes got put into the craft list and couldn't get anywhere close to the chocolate or pumpkins to craft them, yeah I got close to earning everything but just missed out by a small amount. I'd say for a freemium player if you missed the prizes it will be impossible to craft them after.
You don't have to. It's a game. Play effectively and you can easily get all the prizes without paying real money.
As I said before, like all games you have play to win the top prizes.
Sounds like I played a lot less than you and easily got all the prizes with time to spare.
Obviously i don't have to play that much if I don't want to, but how do you earn all the prizes if I don't ?
Like I said I played both freemium and premium, i kept falling short on the freemium town and I played them both back to back.
Now when people are saying you can do it without spending donuts I want to know if you have any of the characters who trick and treated apart from the free level up one's because if you do you do need donuts, you may not directly spend them on this event but as long as you have the premium kids it would have helped you a lot, plus it seems a lot of people was getting the face hugger glitch or other types of glitches that helped.

Resorting to calling people losers, people who you know nothing about, is totally uncalled for. The majority of people on this forum are good, nice and decent people. Next time maybe figure out a more constructive way of expressing your frustration.

Despite it's seemingly simple appearance, TSTO is still a game. Like all games there are more effective ways to play and less effective ways. With two towns it can be even easier.
In regards to characters, I have no premium trick or treaters other than Squeaky Voiced Teen (who is commonly rewarded to people in their 5-day Mystery Box).
I also have no idea what the face hugger glitch is and used no other glitches.

OP - did you end up getting to the last prize? Had my fingers crossed for you!
i don't mean any offence to anyone re the loser comment...I myself have played this game too much during some events
but this one crossed the line for me in terms of how much time it demanded
- visiting friends alone needs 30min per day - eventually resulting in late nights since the times to visit get pushed back later and later
- plus another 15min twice per day to sort out the trick or treaters
- plus time to squish aliens
*In total this means over an hour a day needed to play this event...come on that's ridiculous!
So for the last alien guy, I paid 100 donuts and got him. He looked so cute with the glow-y heart and all. He was in my inventory and I tapped "use" but don't see him anywhere in my world. Anyone have some advice? I'm really bummed to have spent donuts and now it seems to be for nothing.

by analysing my neighbours I believe that under 20% of tapped out users played this event actively till the end..i'm guessing most gave up as soon as they realised the amount of time needed
that's pathetic  is that the kind of activity that EA want :?

Since you brought it up, I'm a freemium player who got all the prizes and lots of decorations. I can spend an hour a day in the evenings at home (either early on, while my wife and daughter are doing other things, or after they're both asleep), and somewhat less than that tapping throughout the day at work while doing other things. (I am easily bored and need to multitask to stay focused.
But I know that the factors that made it "no problem" for me were 1) I've been playing for a few years now, and I had 12 of the kids to start, 2) I strategized early and often, based mostly on info from LPNintendoITA and brettolmsted 3) part of my strategizing was saving up donuts for weeks before THoH, so part of my strategy was to buy Sherri & Terri and the Ray Gun, which both gave me additional help and will be good to have after the event, and 4) part of it is always luck, because it appears that EA uses true randomization when they should be using pseudorandomization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudorandomness) to ensure that a few outliers aren't ridiculously unlucky.
Like some others said, you still have time--just don't update your game yet and you should be able to make it.
As for complaining about things not being fair for those who have a social life, well, it seems like a lot of people have been able to successfully achieve all the prizes (and without paying) and still manage to have a social life. The thing about games is, it is YOUR CHOICE to play them. And as with anything in life, everyone DOESN'T win. There have been events where I didn't win all the prizes. In fact, the update before the Halloween one, I didn't get the last 4 prizes. But so what? That is just part of playing the game.

If you are referring to the Mr. Burns U.B.O. then you may have to tap on Mr. Burns, and then side swipe to select his U.B.O. skin. Hope that helps!

This.
I don't even have a life. I just have a weird schedule which means I am maybe available to collect on trick or treaters twice per day instead of three. I love this game, but I'm not setting my clock every 8 hours to revolve around it. That's pathetic, and if that's what it takes to earn these prizes (aside from the Donut Torture Device, I didn't care for them anyway), then.. nope.
Edit : also, 90 rigellians from neighbors? Go to 30 neighbors (likely 45 or more since many are old and not updated) for 3 squishes with 1 strand each? Not even close to a worthy investment of my time.

see this is where I differ from you guys
you're thinking about small time - ME ME ME and YOU YOU YOU
i'm thinking about EVERYONE and the sustainability of the game so that it's around in the future without everyone slowly quitting...events need to be appealing even to the more casual players

But some portion of "EVERYONE" likes a challenge, and would get bored if the events could be completed by playing very casually. So I dispute that you're actually thinking about EVERYONE. EA is, though, because they actually see how often every user logs on, how many abandon the game and when, and how many actually pay and when. They can't know in advance how well certain aspects will be liked (*cough*EASTER*cough*), but I can tell you they probably have whole teams of people devoted to scrutinizing the usage statistics.
I don't know. I got everything. I've been leveling like crazy through this event. I started at level 38 or something, and now I'm two levels away from the level cap. I only recently (in the last week) got all of the kids, and even then, they were on other, level-based tasks most of the time. I haven't hoarded many treat bags. I maybe got 200/300 units of even currency from hoarded bags each phase, it helped a little, but didn't really make much of a difference overall.
I made an effort to log in as much as I could, and that more than anything seemed to pay off. I liked the grind on this event, but I could see how, if you aren't allowed to use your phone at work or something, you could easily fall behind. I only started playing halfway through the **** event, and I got all the prizes from that, too. Most of you seem to complain about how you struggle to put the time in, and that may be the case, but you also have to understand that it is ultimately a real time game, and if you can't put the time in, it's not unreasonable to expect that you won't get everything.
I, personally, would like to see them make it more challenging.

Yeah, I'd be doing those things too if I wasn't sick & disabled so I guess that makes me a loser. Yaaaayy.
