Being a good neighboureeno

Personally, I dont care what my neighbors tap. Even the graffiti taps are fine. There's not much to worry about. Just visit as often as you can.

Just tap away with what you want, it's your right to do it.
My very first post asked whether, when I tapped on a neighbor's building(dollar sign/ dollar/cash register) was I taking that money away from the person? Duh.
As for graffiti, eventually, you'll find most don't care. Just tap graffiti if that's what you see, and if it bothers someone a lot, they'll drop you. Just don't take it personally. For one thing, if they have lots of friends, they'll run out of things to tap. Odds are excellent you won't notice that you've been dropped until one day your visits seem to be shorter, and you count and think "I could've sworn I had 100 neighbors. Who left?"
I think the more important thing to pay attention to if you want to be a good neighbor is to make sure you have a few buildings in your own town that you always leave untapped so that neighbors have something to tap when they visit you. Then only tap them when you see the hand symbol above them.
There are simple ways to fix that. Training walls. Lots of them.
Anyway, I don't care what people tap in my town. When I'm playing, I try to make sure the graffiti is always cleaned so people have something to tap when they visit. In friends' towns, I just tap on the three closest things. If someone deletes me, it's really easy to find new friends anyway.
Indeed. I have a bunch tucked away behind a house farm. They're rather inexpensive as well.
Other than graffiti, though, the long-timer buildings are a nice thing to tap.
To anyone who didn't experience it, I apologize for the convoluted explanation. But those who are veterans of the game recall. Maybe. Being a good neighbor was centered on making visits and exploring other towns. Not on housekeeping duties.
I did make a lot of money (7,000,000+) during Halloween because I tapped everything all the time. Now I will leave some buildings untapped for my neighbors.
In short, nothing, they just raise your righteousness rating a little bit.
Speaking of tactical errors. First thing I did this morning was rampage through my town collecting all rents, as I've gotten into the habit of doing that over the past month. I did a final sweep of my town to be sure I hadn't missed collecting from anything, and there was a lone handshake on the Simpson house ... And I suddenly realized I'd just wiped away any chance for friends to get FP from me ...
I'm going to need to get used to leaving that floating stuff alone. Aarrgghh. Luckily, I have no use at all for ingame cash. Glad I'm not trying to play the mid-stages of this game, where building costs are high and you have 100 neighbors to accommodate by leaving rents uncollected. Egad.
Yup I started that this morning but caught myself. I still need cash, none of the 10,000,000 items at all.
