I had the 24-hour main questline task for Homer that directly interfered with the daily elf tunnel tasks, you couldn't cancel the task and if I waited I would have lost out on the elf reward so they are indeed purposely making things difficult to do without buying donuts...
Hi, thanks for that but does the storyline continue normally and will that task still be waiting afterwards ?
Just don't want to store up dozens of tasks for later.
Hi Elfin.....yeah, this was the kind of thing I was getting at. Seems like EA are determined to get people to use doughnuts. Merry Christmas for EA I suppose
He doesn't work for Ea he's just laying down the facts lol
The timer for Santa's tasks only begins once you start the first task, if you've got Homer busy and can't put him on the task then you just start it later, you can still get it.
I was simply checking to see if others were getting the same 'game experience' just now. Having played for longer than I care to remember and having spent more money than was ever sensible, this is something of a departure for EA.
Previously the prizes to be got through game play could be achieved through game play alone.
This time it seems rigged to require the use of doughnuts so that so called 'prizes' are actually purchases.
To my mind this is a somewhat cynical development and, if it is to continue, will certainly affect the way I play in the future.
Just my two kronors worth in the unlikely event that anyone from EA is reading the forums.

You don't need donuts to speed up anything unless you want the prizes quicker, otherwise you just have to wait.
Why do you think you need donuts?
I typed this as a response to another thread on the same issue...my suspicion is that EA is doing this to space out the event somewhat so that there aren't so many complaints about people finishing early and having nothing to do.
Also, it has been stated before and as someone else also posted here, there is no need to stress about losing the bonus if we are all talking about tunnel 4. Homer kicks off the tasks in that tunnel, and if he is not available to do, so the timer will not start without him. Once you have him free and start the task, then the timer will start and you have 24 hours to complete all tasks. This is not necessarily for the OP, but I think some players are still not picking that up from the numerous posts that have been written about it.

Hope that makes it clear.
Yes the timer for tunnel 4 doesn't begin until you've actually put Homer on the required task, you then have 24hours to complete.
Likewise for the rest of the tunnels, the timer doesn't start until you've set the correct person on the first task.
You don't have to set the first person on the task right away, just make sure all the door are complete on Christmas eve
I made the same mistake, but it was avoidable by checking who is needed for the tunnel tasks before letting anyone do long tasks
For me the Homer task became available around midnight last night and this was about 4 hours before the tunnel was unlocked so it was kind of unavoidable. Had I known that Homer kicked it off I wouldn't have sent him to strike
You don't need to complete the tunnel tasks as soon as they become available, so there is no need to speed anything up. When the tunnels opened up Homer had some dialogue about leaving things to the last minute, suggesting that you can start a tunnel task 5 or more days after it opens up if you want to. The 24 hour clock starts when you start the first task in the tunnel.
The tunnel tasks tell you who's going to be used for them. If you're putting them on other tasks, that's your own fault.
It doesn't tell you if it's not unlocked...I'm not sure who you were addressing here. Since it appeared directly after my last comment should I assume that was me? If so you may need to reread my post.

That's funny.
